I like what the Bible says: that the sacrifices pleasing to God are a contrite heart. The outworkings of such a heart, according to said old book are: to walk in humility, to love mercy, tu seek after peace and justice.

Firsly, my religion is personalised. I dont belong to any religious or spiritual group, but I do live a very spiritual life, one that I feel is right for me. My sacrifices are: Meditation 1 hour per day, disipline of my ego, love to the outside world, or at least a neutral perspective, acceptance and action. I think what is the most important sacrifices are the mental ones, not how you dress, or what you dont celebrate.

None.

Because thats exactly the kind of stupid behaviour that religion is founded on and which I seek ultimately to do away with. Of course your brain isn't thinking today... and I can't imagine it has been any other day. If it did then you would have realised the folly of your religion.

It is safe to say I do less sacrificing for my lifestyle than even most athiests...

My very system of beliefs is about freedom.... freedom from restriction and freedom from sacrifice. I do whatever I want to do while I can still do it, without fear of consequence... for no "consequence" can change my fate: complete and utter annihilation. Until I die... my life is mine to live and I intend to enjoy it in whatever form it takes..

In any case... I cannot sacrifice anything because I believe without a shadow of a doubt that I gain things when I am meant to gain them and lose them when I am meant to lose them... and my personal will isn't really relevant to that... and neither do I let it weaken me in any way.

I don't see living for God as having to sacrifice anything. I don't curse simply because it is vulgar. I don't drink simply because I don't feel the need or wish to. I don't party because I've grown and matured passed that stage of my life. I dress however I wish, but always tastefully. I don't cheat on my husband, not just because God's Word says it's wrong, but because I feel it is wrong. I live a moral and ethical life to the best of my ability, not just because God wants me to,but because that is how I wish to lead my life. Nothing God requires of me goes against how I would live my live even if I didn't serve God. Thus, I've never had to make sacrifices for Him. But,if it ever came down to it, I WOULD sacrifice my life for Him.

the main sacrifice i make is fashion...... before i was a Muslim i did a little modelling and i had always loved fashion.... i still wear clothes that i think are nice looking but they are a lot looser and there are a lot of trends that i just dont get to participate in...

it's hard sometimes but when i think about my life.... and the way the men in my life treat me... and the respect i receive for my modesty i know i would trade my life now for my life then even if there was gun to my head. i thank God everyday for leading me to Islam

asalamwalaikum

My behaviour, my character and my dress sense reflect my religion. I don't sacrifice these things for relion or God, I am a better person for them.

None whatsoever. Should someone succeed in demonstrating that (a) there is a god of some sort, and (b) that such god will be appeased in some way by my offering of some sort of sacrifice, then I'll think about it.

We have feasts. Poor libations for our ancestors and the forces of nature. When we cook we give an unsalted portion to our ancestors. They eat before we do. Feasts are kept during a certain time of the year. All other things are suppose to be done as regular as possible.

hmm....well sacrifice,it's not a sacrifice for me...it's like seeking peace by obeying Allah.
well...as like taking hijab when i know i look prettier without it...but i feel dignified n honoured with it :)
like putting my full time in evening duty, when i am highly tired after morning duty n lectures...believe me whenever a thought comes to get rest,it's Allah's fear that put me on work again.
attending boring n useless lectures, when every one goes out marking their false attendance n studying for test...n me sitting, but it's then Allah who allow me to perform better in examz than others...:)
can't think of anything else, just came back after my evening duty... lol

That question infringes on God knowing what you do for Him in secret. Those things that are done in sacrifice to Him are just for Him and not to be shared with anyone else, which would be considered boasting in the eyes of God.

Matthew 6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

All that we as Christians are to do is for the sole glory of God and not of our own selves.

Proverbs 27:1 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Defination for the word alms-From G1656; compassionateness, that is, (as exercised towards the poor) beneficence, or (concretely) a benefaction: - alms (-deeds).

What ever I do that is a sacrifice for God, is reconizable to those around me, who can see God working through me. It is through that, God draws attention to Himself, of a person who is in need of Him in their life.
