It has been about 2 months since I last dyed and highlighted my hair and I would love to get a perm. I did this once in the past and I guess it was too soon because my hair was melting off. I did buy the special perm for color treated hair, but it still ate it. It has been so long ago that I really dont remember how long I had it highlighted before I permed. Anyone have any ideas?

When I said highlight, I mean with bleach. As for preming my hair, I want curls. My hair is straighter than pocahontas. I HATE it!

Some haircoloring products contain metallic salts that are not compatible with permanent waving. They leave a coating on the hair that may cause uneven curls, severe discoloration, or hair breakage. Perm solution added to bleached hair will cause the bleached strands of hair to turn gummy and will hold no curl and the hair will eventually break and fall out as you brush. There are perms with a low pH wave that will produce a weak curl or body wave but thats about the only solution you can put on bleached hair without having it fall out.

Good luck :)

i would wait a least a month to be on the safe said because you are putting so many chemicals into your hair. trust me thats how long i wait when i do highlights and a anti-perm (chemical hair straighting)

it depents are you talking about a perm wave or a relaxer because some people call a relaxer a perm.. if it's a relaxer i wouldn't do it until your hair is grown out at lease 2 inch long other wise you will begining see it falling out and breakin relaxer and peroxide do not mix o amonia...just wait ..
