If he is under 18, he will not need ID. However if he is flying into the US on an international flight, he'll need a passport. Don't send a credit card with him, it will do him no good. Most places of business will not accept a credit card if the name does not match the person. Unless you can get one in time with his name on it, AND he is repsonsible and will not use it for buying junk, if you feel giving him one for emergencies would help then do so, as long as he is trustable with a Credit Card. Or, get one with a preset spending limit so that he will have some spending money. If it gets lost, its not like cash, and can be replaced. Just teach him the responibility and values of a credit card if you havnt done so already.
All he needs to do on the return is go up to the counter tell the agent is flight number and name and check in, simple as that. Or have him carry a printed itinerary and present that to the agent at check-in. Since he is under 18, if he is travelling domestically in the US he will not need ID, if International of course he will have to present a passport.
Print out the maps of the airports he will be flying to and from that way he will be familiar with the lay out. Just be advised that since he is 15 and no longer considered a minor, the airline may not let you escort him to the gate. If he feels he needs your assistance, he can request that you be issued a Security Pass, but be aware that only one person can go to the gate with him if they allow you to do so. Usually that is not an issue, but they can say no. Don't let on if you are worried, he needs to have a sense of responsiblity and that he is an adult so that he wont be afraid to fly alone. Let him feel secure in asking for help if needed and that any airline agent, no matter what airline, can help him get to where he needs to go. All he needs to do is ask. You can also set up for MAAS-Meet and Assit if he is connecting. Even though he is an Uncommpanied Minor, and agent can meet the arriving flight and assist him to a connecting flight if necessary.
**As a side note, it is not a federal regulation to show ID to fly, only an airline policy. Dont let anyone tell you he has to show ID #1 because he's a minor, he wont have to anyway. #2 There is nothing on the books that says you have to prove who you are, unfortunately, if you are an American Citizen.**

He can check in for the flight without a credit card if he goes to the ticket counter and doesn't use one of the self-check in kiosks. Or almost every airline will let you check up to 24 hours prior to a flight departure online and you can print a boarding pass as well directly from a computer, if he has access to one.
As far as ID: You only need one copy of a government-issued photo ID. In his case, since he's probably just a little too young to have a drivers license in most states, he can go to your state's DMV and get a photo ID. Or a passport if that's one (obviously you don't NEED a passport to travel within the US but it will serve as a gov't. issued photo ID if needed).

If he is only traveling within the U.S., he will only need an ID card. All states will issue them at the DMV office. If he is utilizing the e-ticket macine vs. actually going up to the counter, he may need a credit card, but the easiest way would be for him to go up to the counter and just present his ID card when he checks in. The airlines personnel will do the rest.

examine with the airline first. some require that the minor (You cant get an person passport in Canada until age sixteen) be taken out of the airport via a determine or different criminal dad or mum. As for the bus, reckoning on the place you're in ny, you will possibly be waiting to take the bus (Buffalo is far less then 5 hours away, ny isn't). It rather doesnt remember what greyhound says, its particularly as much as Canada border amenities, they might even see a 14 12 months old going to work out a non determine/grandparent by way of fact the baby actual attempting to run away.
