Don't judge all religious people as a group of nut bags or fanatics. to each is own. It's usually uneducated people who interpret the words incorrectly or literally that creates a problem. I think the fanatical people who live for violence and may ham should be destined as you said to a firy abyss.

Not all religious people are responsible for hatred.
Just the minority who hide behind religion for their own gains, money, power etc..
Fanatics often misinterpret the preaching of whichever god they believe in & then it snowballs into chaos when it conflicts with other radical views.
Most religious people are law abiding, good people who do much more good in the world than harm, the world needs these people.
The Mad Mullahs & Loonies will all burn in the fires of hell if there is a hell.
I am not religious in anyway, but would like to think if there is a god, he will sort out the people who fight in his name.

beliving in a firey abyss would make you religious so you too would be going there, so if there was a firey abyss to goto then no religious people would go there for they were always acting out "Gods" will think about it more likely is religious people will never get into heaven they will never be rewarded but they will also not fry they will just rot which is what i think they are so scared of.

My religion -- Roman Catholicism -- is the single largest humanitarian organization on the planet.
There's a lot of suffering in the world -- but the vast majority of it is NOT caused by "religious people."
And there would be a lot more suffering, if not for "religious people."
So, no offense, but stuff a sock in it. You know as well as I do that your real beef is not this supposed "suffering" that religion causes -- your real problem is that religion teaches things that just don't jive with your lifestyle, so you feel the psychological need to discredit and defame it.

No I don't. For starters, I don't even believe in a hell to comdemn people to. But even if there were, and no matter how evil and judgemental some religious bigots can be, I don't believe anybody deserves to suffer for eternity. Finite sins do not deserve infinite punishment. I'm not that sadistic.

loving the generalisation!
How have I personally caused suffering that you think I'm destined for a fiery abyss? Hells what I deserve, but my religion is about knowing God who forgives through Christ- whats so bad about that? It hasnt caused me to kill anyone or hate anyone or do anything nasty- anything bad in me is my fault, not the fault of what I believe.

It is not the "religious" of the world that create the suffering.. It is the hatred of ppl in general and ignorance of ppl. And that has nothing to do with religion.

No, their self imposed ignorance will keep them apart from the cosmic consciousness for a time but like everyone else they will eventually attain enlightenment and nirvana.

That's the downside about not believing in an afterlife - those who championed it so loudly will never know they were wrong.
