We have recently moved house (only about 5 minute walk from my old house) and my cat keeps disappearing back to the old house, I've been back twice and rescued him, he's gone again now for 3 days so I will go round tonight and see if he's there. How can I stop him from doing this?

He recognizes the scent mark of the old home on his paws, to distrub this scent and him backtracking "home" place a small drop of oil on each paw to erase the scent

Keep your cat inside for at least a few weeks. He needs to get use to the old place and once he has settled in, he shouldn't go back again.

The only way to stop it is keep your cat inside.Maybe just for a few months untill your cat learns this is the new house.

I don't believe in letting cats roam around free, so, you can probably predict my answer. Keep your cats in the house, that will keep it from going back to your old home.
