I have reason to believe that cows drink water, as oppsoe to people immediately thinking milk. When they are young (calves) they drink the milk from they mother, to attain they essential nutrients for growth.

Normally every living thing even plants needs water for survival. I think its the basic and foremost need. But today people used to give cow a beer and wine so that thier meat can be tastier. Perhaps they like it too.....

in our villages we keep a drink known as kudithi to cows,which is nothing but vegetable bran mixed with water which is highly nutritious.
