I cannot convince you that the God of the Christians is not the 'real one', but I can argue that all other gods are 'real' too. I believe that the Divine tends to conform to our expectations. This is why spirituality cannot be proven by science, you cannot repeat the same results over and over. By saying that only one diety, or faith, is the 'right one' is to say that all others are 'wrong'. This is too extreme to be true. We've all seen extremists in action in the Middle East on the news. I doubt that this is a new thing. Christianity basically started out as Judeaism for Gentiles, right? Well, if you study the history of the Hebrew people, you will find that they were regularly conquered by all sorts of unsavory peoples, even enslaved. I'll bet that they developed a 'the Oppressors shall suffer' mentality. Judaeism was a closed system, if you weren't a Jew you were going to Hell forever, as far as they were concerned. Us vs. Them. Now, all that aside, why would any Ultimate Being, like the God of the Bible, only create a single path to 'salvation' and hundreds of thousands of other spiritual paths that were all destined to Eternal Torment? Sounds like the god of a people who hate their neighbors. I believe the human spirit is universal, that no constructive expression of human spirituality is 'false'. The Divine, or 'God', can be seen as a force which we cannot fully comprehend at this time. We give it a human face, this is easiest for us to do. And since It tends to conform to our expectations, any face we give It is just as valid as any other. Let's try another way. Do you prefer Answers or Questions? In my opinion, the contemplation of Mysteries unlocks new thought pathways and becomes the catalyst for positive change, even if you never 'solve' the Mystery. Once a spiritual movement decides that it has Answers, or even The Answers, it becomes a social movement with Dogma and is no longer about the Spirit. It becomes about doing what you are told, believing what you are told, following and not Seeking. Why would you think there is only one God? Aside from relying on Scriptures from a Middle Eastern religion.

Okay, well the logic of your "challenge" is flawed. You're claiming that if no one can disprove that the Christian god is real, then he must be. But scientifically this is flawed. The absence of evidence to contradict something doesn't prove its existence. If things worked this way, then I could challenge you by saying, "Disprove my belief that there's a giant alien inside the sun." Since you can't "disprove" this 100% then it must be true... there is a giant alien in the sun.

The true challenge is to prove your claim, that God is real. That can't be done either, but it doesn't mean he/she is not. It just means you have to rely on your own faith one way or the other.

Update: You're avoiding the point. I could say the same thing about any concept. Not being able to disprove it, doesn't prove it - that's the point. And from your perspective you think an alien in the sun is illogical, but there was a time when most people on this planet believed in multiple gods (paganism) and a single god was thought to be illogical. Some might say that believing in gods at all is more mystery and sci-fi than any alien in a sun. The point is, it's not proven, it's not disproven and your test case still doesn't hold up.

If proving evolution true is all it would take to convince you that the Christian "God" is not real, then you're gonna be just fine. There is plenty of good proof. Go look at talkorigins.org... all the arguments are pretty much there... if you find an article you don't like, just read another one. Most of them are alright.

What is key to understand is that Christianity as a theory of explaining our existence is not falsifiable... that is, if you are creative, you can generate an unlimited amount of theories that contain the major elements of Christianity that have no effect whatsoever on reality, and thus no experiment can prove them wrong.

Science, on the other hand, is only good science if it is falsifiable. That way, we would know if it were wrong, so we can rely on it.

If evolution were wrong, we would have found evidence somewhere that it was wrong. We would have found quite a bit of evidence by now, because we've done quite a bit of looking.

Btw... the way to "repair" Christianity, once you understand evolution, is to say that "God did it." - your god used evolution as a tool, either because he thought that was the most beautiful way to create mankind, or to obscure his existence, thus making it "a little game" whether or not individuals guessed at his existence/identity, or just because He was lazy. The Bible must be assumed to be sometimes wrong, especially when it sounds like somebody was just making stuff up that they thought sounded cool.

It is suprising to see that people still ask questions about the existance of God. If I may ask, did this ephemeral world came to existance on its own, or something unseen is behind it?
u see most people like urself is confused and lost because there is a section of ur brain that lost its power to funtioning. most of u are more of intuitive-emotional than a rational analist. I think I will advice u to seat back and get urself together; collect all the pieces that makes the real u then u can begin to listen to the voices that shared understanding about the thing that has to do with God. For ur imformation, God is supreme- it takes a real human with a gift to share about His knowledge. All the things u hear are perfeitched or shared lied. God is real. All u need to do is to get ur pieces together; use ur other side of the brain which they called muted then u understand better. And I can assured u that u will believe in God. To say it more clearly, Allah (SWT) is the creator and if u believe in Him, u shall see the light and the beginning of ur freedom from all the faiths crisis. U will learn about the facts that there are heatens who distorts the understanding of people about Allah (God) to achieve selfish material gains. once again use the other side of ur brain to explore ur understanding about Allah.

No, I probably cannot convince you. The human capacity to rationalize away what they don't want to believe is nearly infinite. I could point out to you that most of the stories in the Old Testament were borrowed from earlier religions. I could point out to you that the stuff written about Jesus was written decades after his death, if he existed at all. I could point out to you the myriad contradictions in the Bible and inconsistencies with science and history.

Still, this is unlikely to convince you. I'm sure you are more than capable of rationalizing it away and ignoring any inconvenient facts.

Islam is more like Judaism than Christianity in its rulings.

But more like Christianity than Judaism when it comes to the hearts of the Muslims.

But we believe in Both Jesus and Moses because they were all sent by the SAME GOD.

BTW if you believe that God of the Christians is real...then your question was really a waste of your time and effort. As youre contradicting yourself...that or ...you dont know how to write a decent question.

Peace

Friend, they can not prove it, but you may get 50 different ideals because that is what non Christians have to hold onto. Their theory. The God of the Christains is the ONE & ONLY TRUE GOD, & yes on your other line of thought on this question, There was Dinosaurs in a prehistoric time frame.

I had trouble understanding all the stuff you wrote after your question. Probably because my answer to your question doesnt lie in all the issues you list below it.

The fcat is there is only one God and it is not 'Moslem' God, 'Christian' God 'Hindu' God or whatever. Its just 'God' There is a supreme Being, a supreme soul (with title 'God') from which all life comes. There are demi-Gods too but the 'religions' of the world don't encourage us to worship them as the topmost. Different religiosn help to keep us out of animal life (simply eating sleeping, mating and defending) and help us to focus our attention on the supreme soul. Jesus and Mohammed and other teachers are all right in helping people of different levels of consciousness to come to know and love God.

There is ONE God, with many names - Allah, Jehovah, Krishna (to name a few, all refring to differentaspects of His character, all powerful, all pervading, all attractive - they are all the same person. And He is very real. You can know him. (we used to know Him but we forgot. Just be sincere and doors will open.

haribol soul!

No. No one can convince you. You have made up all the facts and logic you need to come to the conclusion you decided upon before you asked this question. If you ever choose to open your eyes and ears, you might find faith instead of meaningless rhetoric.

God is real. It can be denied, but not disproved.
The way to reach him, is to have an open heart towards others.
When you pray, pray for others and not just what you want for yourself. God said that when you give with a pure heart. He will pour so many blessing from Heaven that you won't be able to handle them all.
