Since Christ was truly perfect and was yet still a man, he could have very well been married. In fact, during his time, to not be married was very unusual and the idea that he was married to the church seems like an odd thing to say since this idea did not come about until long after he had died and in the Christian faith it was done so as a way of suggesting marriage to the church.I could be wrong but I guess I am looking for a scripture quote that says Jesus was never married.

And, no, I am not talking about some fictional story or movie.I am just curious about why the possiblity that Christ might have been married is so readily dismissed.

Could Christ have been married? Certainly.

But was He? Definitely not.

In the Bible, Jesus speaks of those who forsake marriage for the Kingdom of Heaven, and challenges those who are able to live this lifestyle to do so.

This is not a challenge He would have issued, if He were not living it Himself.

There is no record whatsoever, either in the Bible or in other sources, of Jesus ever being married.

The idea that Christ was married has never been "readily dismissed" -- the fact that He was single and celibate is rooted in Scripture and in every non-Scriptural piece of information we have about Him.

Was it unusual for a Jewish man in Jesus' time to remain unmarried? Yes, it was -- but it's much less unusual than being the Son of God, than performing miracles that include raising people from the dead, and than rising from the dead 36 hours after being crucified.

These things are far more unusual than being a single man back then -- but they happened anyway. So there's no reason to think that Jesus HAD to have been married, just because most men in His earthly time were.

The quality of a man is not marriage. It is how we live that determines what kind of a man are you. If we stop being concerned about whether Christ was married or not, we can take a lesson from this...He loves all of His children, and has given the supreme sacrifice for them.
Think of this: How could Christ have begotton children, and still remain in the human quagmire we all face as forgiven sinners?
God, the Father cannot associate with us because of our sin.
For tha forgiveness to take place, we must have a mediator, Christ!

To understand why Jesus was never married while he walked this Earth, you must first understand why he came to Earth and why it had to be him. The first man that was created was perfect, without sin. He was given a commandment by his creator and instead of being obedient, he decided to rebel and choose for himself what was right for him to do, thus claiming that mankind is capable of ruling himself without any direction from a God. This decision brought about punishment to mankind, no longer are we perfect. According to God's own law 'life for a life', the only way for mankind to restore themselves to that perfect state once again, is for another perfect man just like Adam, to willfully submit himself to his creator. This is why Jesus is sometimes called the second Adam. The first Adam was also commanded to multiply and fill the Earth with offspring, I think we all know that he done that. The only thing that he didn't do was totally submit himself to his God and obey ALL of his commandments, this is where Jesus came in to finish the job that Adam couldn't do. This is why Jesus was tempted so many times by the devil, if he committed just one selfesh act that was not a part of his mission, he would have failed just like Adam. Was it neccesary for Jesus to create offspring here on Earth, no. Once Jesus fulfilled his committment and duty to his creator, he made it possible for all humans to regain everlasting life under perfect conditions, thus adopting all of mankind as his children. Knowing this, we can understand that there was really no need for him to marry someone during his short time on Earth. Don't forget, at the time of his death he made arrangements for one of his followers to look after his 'next of kin', which happened to be his mother, not his wife or children.

Because people want to think of him more godly than as the man that he was. He might of been married and then he might not have. He did have a lot to do though in his ministry and a wife might have taken his time away, but who knows?! BIble thumpers are gonna hate you for this question. LOL, They dont like to think past what they were taught!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its very simple... People who think happiness comes from christianity will attach themselves to the religion.. This is their "Constant" which makes them feel happy.. when something like the idea of Christ being married comes into the picture, their "constant" is interrupted, and they feel as if their happiness were being invaded... Their only natural response they know of at this time is to defend themselves, or to become even more radically Christian...This is why many Christians act as they do toward books like the Da Vinci code...

I hope this helps, cheers!

Jesus was. is and shall ever be God. He was, is and shall ever be 100% God as well as 100% man. Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever." God does not get married. God does not need to get married. This marriage business is a Gnostic heresy that the church rejected centuries ago. Let us all not focus on such ridiculous fables as this, but focus on the saving grace of the blood of Jesus and WHY he gave himself for you and me----to die for our sins so that we would not have to do so. There is no salvation in arguing over petty issues----such activity is rejected by God and will do nothing for us spiritually. Serving God through serving our fellow human being will bring about great rewards and the peace of God. This is where our focus must be placed.

THERE ARE MANY EVENTS IN JESUS LIFE THAT ARE NOT RECORDED AND THEREFORE WE CAN'T KNOW FOR SURE.
THE FACT THAT HE WAS MARRIED OR NOT IS ONE OF THEM. SO WE CAN'T ARGUE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. WE CAN PRESENT ARGUMENTS THAT WOULD MAKE ONE ALTERNATIVE MORE PLAUSIBLE THAN THE OTHER BUT IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW FOR SURE.
IT IS INTERESTING TO OBSERVE THAT JESUS COMPLAINED ON OCCASIONS THAT EVEN DOGS HAD A PLACE FOR REFUGE BUT HE HAD NONE. FROM A PRACTICAL POINT OF VIEW HOW IN THOSE CONDITIONS, COULD HE PROVIDE A DECENT LIVING PLACE FOR A WIFE?

the question isn't what scriptures say he wasn't married? it's: does scripture say he was?

it does not.

the davinci code stirred up debate among silly believers because of this premise. it's a work of fiction. the more christians fussed, the more noteworthy it became.

trust me, had he been married, SOMEONE would have written it down.

BTW he isn't God, he's the son of God, the Messiah, a Man

I can't give you a quote from the bible about this, I'll let the bible readers do it, but in 'yogic' terms Jesus was sanyas. He was renounced of all so-called wordly pleasures, and played the role or someone who deosn't marry. Now, its true that marriage can be above mere worldly pleasure and be helpful for spiritual life, but Jesus wasn't. I'm sure he loved Mary Magdalene as he loved his disciples. She might have been attracted to him and he would have helped her to see him as he is, as servant of God, as spirit soul, not the body, and see herself in the same way, she is also servant of God. So they didnt have sex life.

Doesn't mean marriage isn't good. It's better to be celibate but its better to amrry than to burn.

Jesus loved us so much that I cannot believe that He would have married in order to spare a wife the shame and disgrace of His death. It was hard for the apostles to grasp, imagine if He had a wife.
