I would take time out and write down why you're straying. Food can be used as a source of comfort or boredom etc - ask your self why am I eating? am I hungry? am I thirsty? (often mistaken for hunger) or bored, sad, frustrated, low etc - if you're not hungry then you need to treat the cause of the emotion and attempt to elimate, without resolving with food. Maybe writing a diary. Also trying to look out for your trigger foods - the foods that once you eat them, make you want to eat more 'bad' types of foods. People often find these are food high in refined sugars -cakes, choclates etc - some people find even certain types of high glycemic fruits (fruits that release their sugars relatively quickly into the blood stream, causing further sugar cravings and an energy crash). Not that you should avoid fruit because it has live enzymes that aid digestion and a number of vitamins and minerals essential for an effecient metabolism, but you may need to balance these fruits with protein (a yogurt before say) or other low gi carbs.

Again trying to follow a plan that keeps your blood sugar level stable will halp prevent the cravings - a low gycemic index/load plan.

Lifting Mood -Certain foods contain an amino acid tytrophan which can help lift mood - like banana's and turkey. I've food taking 5htp (available from health shops) which is converted from tytrophan but some people don't convert it easily or enough of it in the body. Taking 5htp is supposed to help release serotonin - the feel good factor - some clinical trials have shown that people with elevated levels of serotonin feel more satisfied after eating and over eat less.

Also, I think the word 'diet' has been misconstrued over the years to mean 'low fat' or 'low carb' on any other fad diet - diet is simply the food we eat, we can have good or bad diets - you need a way of eating for life that doesn't make you feel like you're restricting yourself so much that you feel deprived. I would suggest the 80/20 rule - allowing yourself the odd treat. If this treat is high in sugar, incorporate after a meal that had protein to slow the release of sugars. Again on treat days you should take into account the additional calories.

Another point to rememeber eat little and often, to keep blood sugar levels stable and your metabolism working effeciently.

Also exercise is key. Aerobic exercise to burn fat - weight lifting to build muscle. As some else mentioned muscle burned a lot more calories that fat does. if you don't exercise you're lightly to flat line on the progress as you lose weight you body burns less calories - so exercise is a way of firing up the metabolic rate, and buidling muscle means you'll have a higher metabolism. This is why men tend to high higer metabolisms than women - because they have higher muscle mass naturally. Exercise also release chemicals that again make you feel good about yourself.

In winter when there's less sunlight, the body synthesis' less vitamin D. Getting sunlight of the skin for 10 -15 min a day is a good idea to keep mood lifted.

Put a note on your fridge that reminds you why losing weight is so important to you - confidence? feel good factor?health reasons?children (if you have them) etc

Wish you all the luck. apologises for any errors, haven't has time to read back, apologises

When I was on a gung fu stunt team I had a strict diet... I used fitday.com ... really helps you keep track...

i dont believe in using images of others for inspiration ya inspiration must come within or you will always fail and be like those people that half diet or eat lite foods and think it is helping...and diet pills just mess up ya body so after you are off em you end up bigger than you started :(

as a martial arts instructor I would suggest drinking at least 120 oz of water a day eliminating ALL sugars except those found in healthy foods... and an exercise plan that even if it starts out walking a mile or two a day is still a plan...Cardio is key I prefer fighting or escrima stick fighting for cardio.

Good luck with that... and remember you have to have already succeeded in ya mind before you will accomplish ya goals...

HOODIA:
Hi,
I've tried all different diets, and the weight loss is only temporary. I finally tried diet pills on the market are made from Hoodia. I saw this stuff on ABC News. It's all natural and safe, and it works! My wife took it for a month and dropped 20 pounds. I took it for a month and lost about 13 (but I didn't exercise).

I bought the natural hoodia from this website: http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills.php . I checked the web site address so I can post it here and I saw they're running a promotion now to get a free 2 week sample for only $4.97! I'm going to order this supply for my wife and give it to her for Christmas =)

Congratulations! That's such a great achievement - you should be really proud of yourself.

How about treating yourself to a new lippy to reward yourself for what you've lost so far and then get a pile of magazines.

There are some lovely party clothes and dresses about at the moment - you could choose the ones you like most, stick them on the fridge and promise to treat yourself to them when you reach your goal.

Good luck!

Dont panick, everyone has their greedy days! The key is not too let it control you, you can still eat healthily and have the odd thing now and again and it doesnt mean you failed. If you buy your shopping and dont include loads of unheathy things you wont be tempted as they wont be in your fridge/cupbard. If you make your lunch the night before and include sandwich apple/banana you wont be tempted to grab a cake or pastie on your lunch break

I've lost almost 2 stone since june and i'm going on holiday next week. i'm losing my motivation so i keep going and trying on my bikini, cringing and putting my snack back in the cupboard! today i've had about 200 calories so far and that's back on track, first day in about 2 weeks tho!

try something on that you really want to get into, focus on how close you are to looking how you want in it as opposed to how you don't like what you're seeing. it has helped me!
