is this disrespectful?

It is not disrespectful if you do have the intention to treat it with disrespect... in fact, the one who wears it gets a blessing of the body from having the physical body come in contact with such a wonderful being and anyone seeing your tee-shirt will get what eastern religions call a "Mind Blessing through Sight"... as Ganapati symbolises Kindness and Wisdom, by seeing your tee shirt and admiring it, the one who sees gets a blessing of Kindness and Wisdom in their hearts and minds.

Imagine if you will, wearing a Devi Sri Laxmi's image, how many people will be blessed by the energy of Wealth, Luck and Fortune!!!! You have given me a great idea ... never actually thought about it until now :)

Om Shanti!

It depends greatly on the nature of the t-shirt. If it is not too short and tight and therefore draw lustful thoughts on the wearer, but instead is modest and respectful then the answer is yes it is alright. Also, it greatly depends on any messages that are placed along with the image. AND care must be given to the t-shirt when not being worn and when being washed (never leave it on the ground...hang it up or fold it neatly and place it in a drawer). Before washing you should bless the water. A simple water blessing is "I invoke the waters of the sacred Ganges here." If you look up Hindu prayers the websites generally include this prayer (it's the bathing prayer) or some others like it. A common bathing/washing prayer is found on http://www.hindunet.org and http://www.hindukids.org and there is a list of common Hindu prayers at http://www.beliefnet.org as well. So long as you treat the shirt with great respect (just as you would treat God with great respect...and as you would treat yourself with great respect) then you do not dishonor God (Ganesh).

Well it depends on what your intentions are - whether its to show the world you believe in ganesha or just for fashion. Idols are best seen in temples or houses - pooja rooms. We have the freedom to speech and expression. So yes its alright to do so as long as you are comfortable doing so. You dont see alot of people doing so and we tend to go along with what society thinks. But if you want to do it then so be it, no one can stop you.

As a Hindu I would not be offended.
As long as it does not appear on other parts of the body like your bottom.

It is good to take care as there are many such incidents worldwide.

We all know what happens when they do this with Islam.

well as its Hindu and not Muslim it might be ok, i dont think the Hindu community will want to kill you for it like the Muslims would .......... if they wasnt happy they would approach it in a peaceful manner.

It will probably upset the Muslims anyway though !!!!
