When I painted my darling daughter's nursery, I wanted the walls yellow and the ceiling sky blue. The seam where the two colors met was tricky.
What I did was take the lighter, and easier to cover, color and paint it up and over the seam. After it dried, I took painters tape, dark blue-buy it at a home improvement store, and ran a straight line across the edge. It was pretty easy to "eye it". Then went back and painted the ceiling and didn't have to be that careful about the edges because of the tape. About 30 minutes, after the paint was nearly dry, I pulled the tape off smoothly.
Voila` - nearly perfect straight lines!

My husband prefers to use one of the pads made for edging. It has wheels that guide it along next to the ceiling.
I prefer to cut in by hand, using a 2 1/2 to 3" brush of high quality. With a little practice, you simply paint right up into the joint between wall and ceiling.

Everytime I'v used tape, it continuously bleeds by way of. i like to color so I re-do my partitions each and every couple of years. the least confusing difficulty I'v found is to take a particularly small paintbrush, press it in the corner of the wall and ceiling, and pass at cutting-edge during. You get a skinny line each and every of how around the ceiling, in spite of the undeniable fact that it relatively is no longer noticable. (additionally, I even have found out that in case you paint your ceiling the comparable colour as your partitions, and then placed a border up, the colors look diverse, yet matching! Kinda cool. And rather worry-free. I observed that on t.v. and tried it and that i will never leave my ceilings white back! It looks plenty greater proper. Then, in case you do this, you do no longer would desire to rigidity appropriate to the corner line difficulty. only theory you will desire to prefer to comprehend. supplies yet another selection of what to do.)

That can be tough and it depends on how straight the walls are. I don't care for tape but if you use it make sure the side getting painted is stuck real good . There are a number of sponge edgers on the market that work well. GOOD LUCK

I use the edge painters. They are small squares that you dip in paint and slide along the edge of corners and edges. Great to use, they run about 2-3 dollars each.
