Every time I go to try a Smoothie I discover it contains banana puree which is really annoying as I DETEST banana and yes I can taste it! In Boots there is a strawberry yoghurt smoothie which contains no banana puree and there's a honey and vanilla bean one in Marks and Spencers that doesn't contain banana either. I don't see the need for it in virtually every smoothie you can buy but maybe its cheap! In the Galleries in Broadmead there is a stall that makes fresh fruit juice and smoothies, they can probably make them without banana too.
If you are making your own smoothies you can put in what ever you fancy!

You don't need to put bananas in! Just chuck whatever fruit you fancy into a blender with some yogurt and some milk or fruit juice. If you make it with frozen fruit, it gives it a thicker texture (and it's colder!) - try a handful of frozen strawberries and a peeled ripe mango - that's a nice combination. Frozen blueberries are good too.

Milk (obviously) tinned strawberries (they give a better flavour) Strawberry ice cream, double cream.
Mix up and it is out of this world, no need for anything else. Fresh strawberries are good too, but if you like it sweet you would have to add something to sweeten it.

Oranges, raw carrot and some lemon juice.
The carrot adds a lot of texture to the smoothie, but you can always filter it at the end.
