I would like to speed up my PC but not increase the amount of RAM. When l look in task manager l have about 25+ applications running at the same time. Does anyone know how to remove these programs so that they never start again as lm sure, while some are needed, most are not. Thanks all.

First you need to know which processes are essential system processes and which are not. Processes like svchost, explorer, System are all essential. There are also other essential system processes. Right click on the process and choose the End Process option. this will kill the process and free up RAM space. and make your system faster. If you don't know which is an essential process. just try this with all processes. if it is an essential process your comp will reboot. You learn it by trial and error. Atleast i did.

Most of these programs are Windows services that mostly require to run and services of other application. Turn off these services doesn't help much the PC (in some cases, turning off may slow down your PC).

However, you can turn off applications running on system tray if you like to:
>>run>>msconfig>>Startup>> un-check mark services you don't like

The best way is buying some RAM instead of finding way to clear application running on it.

ram is like a dining room table - if you don't want the casserole dish - put it away

if you do not need the program running - close it - and the RAM will be freed up

oops just saw second part - there shoulod be a start menu to where you can see what is cranking up when you boot up

go to start/help/ and type in start
