The IDEAL system for you is the $1600 projection TV....BUT you cannot stop your game and leave it "displayed" in pause mode while you're eating Dinner.....if you do, the image will be "burned" into the CRTs...

But for $1600 you'll get HD -- Wide Screen -- with Hi Def tuning (able to see your local stations in TRUE HD!!!) so you won't have to purchase HD packages from Cable or Satellite systems immediately to enjoy TRUE HD.

That's the route I want to go...It's a lot of bang for the buck, and it's technology that's been around and improved for the last 28 years!

LCD is the next level of improvement....pretty tough and reliable.

DLP , LCOS, LCD technologies are all newer than CRT, but there are some MAJOR improvements going on NOW.....the 1080P units are using LASERS (Mitsubishi) or LED LIGHTING (Samsung) which will make the Mercury Lamp obsolete....

Of course, these units are presently $4000, since it's the first year of production.

today,11-14-06, i purchased a 46 inch lcd Samsung hd tv.
i can't wait to get it delivered....over the weekend the price was
$2100.00 but during the week they raised it back up to 2300.00
our salesperson said when it came down again in price that we were to bring in our receipts and he would give us the $2100.00
dollar price. which i think is soooo cool. when i was choosing my new tv, i could not believe what a difference the lcd made.
for an hd tv this is the best in all the lines for the money spent........good luck with your search !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hope that you are as lucky as i was. but you must research, re
search, and research. go to the library and check out the consumer reports.........they are the best !!!!! thanx, eileen p
