Well, I still use camera's with film because I love the way that the black and white film comes out, but I often use my father's digital camera when I don't have my camera or any film handy.
I'd like to get a really good manual digital camera, except they cost $1000 + including accessories.

I just bought my first camera in October 2006. It's Olympus u740, 5x optical zoom, 7.1 mega pixels, and "all weather" camera. This camera is very good. It has SCN modes. The SCN modes not only offer night mode but also various types of modes. If you're shooting a fast moving object, choose Sports mode. If you're shooting some text, choose Documents mode. And there are over 20 different modes. Just select one and the camera do the rest of the settings by itself. Cool eh? I like it.
However, one bad thing about this camera is that it doesn't allow you to set the shutter speed. Also, it doesn't have high stabilization.

My first camera was given to me on my 12th birthday, it was a Kodak and you had to affix a 4-sided flash cube to the top of it if you wanted a night shot. We've come a long way since then.

My first "real" camera was a Canon AE-1 in the mid-seventies. I got the 50mm lens with it, and didn't bother to get another lens until 1995, when I switched to Nikon.
