I just got off the phone with my cousin and she said that she heard on a radio station in Detroit that Thomas Hearns has talked Sugar Ray Leonard into coming out of retirement for a 3rd fight. WHAT? I think she's trying to pull one over on me but she says she's serious. Aren't these guys almost 50? And who in their right mind would want to see that fight? If any one has heard this, please respond cause i think she's lost her mind!

Don't get me wrong, I love Leonard and Hearns(i have the Leonard-Hearns saga on vhs) but don't mess with history! Please don't fight each other at 50!

Although i haven't heard anything about this being a done deal as your cousin says, she might not be as crazy as you think because a couple of months ago both men were in studio on espn classic to celebrate the anniversary of their first fight and Hearns was actually trying to talk Ray into a third fight right there on the air! I think even though many people know Hearns really won that second fight, Tommy was never really comfortable with the official draw verdict on his record and the fact that it took a while for Ray to actually admit that Tommy really won that fight. Hearns knows he won but that blemish of the draw ate at him i think. I think he may want a third fight to leave no doubt in anyone's mind and he wants to knock Ray out. Tommy is still going but i doubt if Ray would ever come back to the sport as a fighter. And i would watch it if it was on free tv just out of curiosity if nothing else, but surely i wouldn't pay to see it.

That is ridiculous even if it was true. If people buy this fight, it reminds me of what H. L. Mechan once said that you can never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

To poncho and others, do you all see that program? Hearns speech was slurred. After years of boxing and a persons speech is slurred, what the hell do you think caused it?

I admire Rocco and Hagler for staying retired.

I would not give Holyfield a license for any reason.

Not only has she lost her mind, but she is nuts(no direspect intended). Thats what you call talk, fighters sometimes do that, when they feel they can do better then the yong guys. Suga ray vs Hearns 3, is a pipe dream, sounds good though. If its free on ABC.

This is not so far-fetched. They're charging 50 bucks to watch a 44 year old Holyfield chase an elusive 5th title.
Hearns is active again and Leonard can never stay retired.
Hearns would win this. I've seen him fight on his comeback and I can guarantee you that Leonard is way more shot than he is.
It would give him the victory that was stolen from him in their second fight.

believe it or not, people will pay big bucks to see it. i haven't heard of this fight happening, but i wouldn't doubt it.

it's all about money. both ex- boxers are probably running on empty in the monetary dept and this is a way to make a quick buck.

Two all time greats going at it? This doesn't surprise me if it is indeed true. Would I pay 50 bucks to see it? No.
