If there is 24 hours a day, u have to sleep 8 hours, so there will be 16 hours left. From 16 hours, I'll spend 8 hours studying and 10 hours spending some quality time with ur bird.

Birds are not domesticated animals, they've been tamed but they are only a generation or two away from the wild so to keep him tame, you should spend at least an hour a day with your bird. If ignored, they can become sullen, lonely, depressed and aggressive. It doesn't have to be constant attention but it needs to be consistent.
Except at night, both of our birds' cages are open and they're out the entire time that we're in the house. While sitting at the computer I usually have one or both birds in my office or on me. While watching television, one of the birds is sitting with me and when we're home, we're talking to them every time we pass through the family room. Birds are social animals and they need the attention of their flock -- which you and I became members of when we bought our birds. Find ways for your bird to be with you while doing other things. I have one little guy that loves to watch "Lost" because of all the bird sounds on the show. For the hours that you're away during the day, make sure your little guy has enough toys to keep him entertained. You might also leave a radio playing so that he isn't sitting in silence.

I think that when you come home, get yourself settled, go over of course and say hello to your bird, let him know that you're home. Then let the bird out and do it's thing or sit with the bird and relax with it for a while. We all don't take the time anymore to just hang out, and having a pet bird allows us to do that. They just want you near them. I'd say if your time is limited then least an 1 or 2 a day out of the cage.

We have had a single love bird for 10 years now. Keeping him in a room where there is a lot of activity during the day but quiet at night. Having him close while you watch tv or listen to music will keep him stimulated.

No set time. Just let them out whenever you can. They like to sit on your head or on a pillow next to you. Sometimes they will go off and do their own thing like get on top of a dresser mirror or something. Just stop by and say hello to them in the cage every time you go by, birds love the attention.

I don't know, I wonder myself. I used to let mine out all the time but he gets into trouble by picking paint off the wall, shredding magazines etc. Mine gets out for about 1/2 hr every other day or so. But his cage is big enough to fly and stretch his wings, so I don't worry there.
He's in our living room so he's in the middle of all the activity and has lots of toys too.
