I have a 10-year-old daughter that has UTI for almost three years.
She is now under "Nitrofurantion" for more than 18 months.
Is there a hope that the UTI will go away as she grows up?
Any help and suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks …

By now, she is probably immune to the Macrodantin. She needs to drink cranberry juice and or take cranberry pills. She also needs to wipe herself after she pees from FRONT TO BACK. A lot of girls do it the opposite way and this causes bacteria from the rectal are to be brought forward to the vaginal area, causing a UTI.
A drug that you can ask for at the doctors is BACTRIM DS. It comes in pill form and the pills are usually very large, and it also comes in liquid form. The liquid form doesn't taste bad at all.
Bactrim is a sulfur drug so if she is allergic to sulfur of any kind she will not be able to take it.
Another sulfur based drug for UTIs is Gantrisin. It's an old drug, makes the urine an orange or amber color, and because it's an old drug, it may be hard to find.
Bottom line is, the nitrofurantin drug that she is on is no longer working. She is not susceptible to this drug. Has she had a UA C&S DONE? This test is a simple urine test that will show what the bacteria is resistant and susceptible to. That information will tell the doctor what to put her on to clear it up. But remember, she must be instructed to wipe herself in the correct way or all of your efforts to treat this will be null and void.
Hope this helps.

I'm not a doctor but that sounds like an awfully long time to have a UTI. She could have a drug resistant strain but have you ever gotten a second opinion and do they actually find bacteria in a culture?

Some conditions can mimic UTI's as far as frequency and burning goes.

This could help, and no harm done either if you try, boil fresh corn together with the leaves and ask your daughter to drink the
water that came from it. I used this as my medication way back home when I catch UTI, so far I was able to get rid of it.

The only over the counter treatment I would try would be AZO. Make sure that your daughter is drinking plenty of fluids. Nothing with carbonation or caffine. If this doesn't work you may want to ask your Dr. why he/she hasn't recomended surgery or hospitalization.

Ask your doctor. .He may not know of Ciprofloxasin, is strong prescription anti biotic taken twice a day at same time for period of 8-10 days. Use cranberry juice, too to ease symptoms.

This may be some infection of the bladder.
So it is impotent to seek medical advice.
