Hartz products are among the worse ones you can possibly use. They are very dangerous. They contain high doses of concentrated pesticides. There are many law suits out against the company for deaths to animals because of theri products. There are warnings in virtually every vet office about the pesticides used in their products. Their products often cause neurological issues, seizures and death.
I can't tell you the number of dogs & cats that have been brought into the hospital just this summer with very serious reactions to these products.
OTC flea products are NOT safe to use.

I've used both Frontline as well as Program. I have 3 dogs and a cat. One night I was in Walmart, and we were going away for a week. I forgot to get Frontline from the vet, so I grabeed the Hartz Flea ,tick and mosquito drops, and hoped it would be okay. That was last summer, I have only found a few DEAD ticks on my floors, no live ones on my dogs, and have never(knock on wood) have a flea problem. I think that they work just as well, if not maybe better.

Hartz product don't work! It only repells fleas for a few days. People say that it's cheaper, but waving your hands around and chanting is even cheaper than Hartz flea medicine, and kills fleas just as well.
Frontline is worth the $35 for three months of treatment - the fleas are killed all month long.

The use of Hartz flea medication almost cost my cat her life as it effected her central nervous system. The vet bill was over $800 and she went through hell. There is apparently a reason vets do not recommend it, it one step away from pure poison. We were very lucky about wanting to pay for treatment for our cat, most are put down. The vet called our Jasmine's recovery "remarkable".

I would be very careful with that stuff. I lost a 3 year old dog to that stuff 8 years ago, I put it on his back as the package said to do and 6 hours later I was awakened by my dog because he was having a seizure. We took him to the vet and they bathed him but that stuff goes to the blood stream and it was too late. We ended up having to euthanize him an the vet said it was because of the flea product. We had a necropsy done and no sign of any other problems.

I have not heard good things about this product. Ask your vet what he/she thinks. I remember something about them being involved in the Mafia type of business. The product was just a cover. So not much was done in the way of safety pertaining to the product. This might have been a story told by adults to torture small children?

Other people have already told their stories but PLEASE read this information, too. There is a whole website full of stories about pets being hurt by Hartz products.
If you haven't seen it yet please check out www.hartzvictims.org. I would NEVER use anything made by Hartz on my dogs or my cat. Please use something safer. Your animals' health isn't worth risking.
