What is the youngest anyone has given there baby cereal in their bottle. My baby will be a month on sat. He eats 4 ounces every 2 hours put it doesn't seem like its filling him up. He wakes up 3-4 times in the night. Should I use a little cereal in his bottle at night so that he sleeps better and longer.

My son is now 8 weeks old I have been putting half a teaspoon of cereal into his bottle for three weeks now, as he became unsettle during the day and night around five weeks old ( he was sleeping right through the night since three weeks old) since then he has been sleeping through the night & has become settle during the day as well. I have given all 5 of my children cereal in their bottles you just have to have a bigger teat on the bottle.

First of all you're the parent. You know your child, no one else here does. So trust your gut. But if it was my child, I'd first try just a little cereal during the day. Because if it ends up upsetting his stomach the night time is the worst for that. Plus you don't want to be up ALL night either. Then see just how he sleeps during the day. The next day I'd try it at night. But not a lot. VERY soupy. And be very careful, lil one's like him can choke easily. Watch his bowel movements, and make sure they're as they should be. But don't expect him to sleep through the night. It may hold him off a few hours longer. I hope it works out for you! I remember those nights......I'll be thinking about you!

My son had bad reflux at one week old and the doctor told me to put cereal in his bottle. He is now 3 months old and eats great and sleeps excellent. Put 2 teaspoons of rice cereal in a 4 oz bottle

Sorry to tell you but 1 month old babies always wake up 3-4 times a night. It would be weird if they didn't. His little tummy is probably the size of a golf ball right now and it cant hold any more stuff. You should just keep getting up when he needs you- im sure you do. young babies also need this middle of the night time to make him feel safe and bond with mommy, the constant attention is important even though it is rough on you. Just remember, this rough period is only temporary, and id wait to give him cereal another 3 months at least. He's not ready.

No....he should not have cereal until closer to 6 mos of age. Only breastmilk or formula at this point, per the AAP. His system is not prepared to digest anything else yet. Starting solids too soon can lead to allergies, diabetes and obesity.

It's normal for babies that age to eat often and a few times a night. It is way too soon for cereal.

Most doctors recommend no cereal until they are 6 months or so.
