Well i say that the statement is logical....
Why not directly ask from god rather than from GOds photograph.....?
Yes, it makes sense..
I think hindus think, if we make a statue of GOD, God will come in that statue..
What mind thinks why in the hell God needs to come in a statue??
He made the whole worle & whole universe....!
does he really need to get into a statue???
it is true that hindus worship hande made idols....
which cant even move or gather their parts if they fall on ground....
The Hindu Gods are made of clay....
or some mud/clay/wheat dough...
which cant do any thing for humans....
so why ask from idols???
search for real GOD...
who has power of all..
who has control of every thing..
The GOD over which humans have no control...
& I say, there is GOD!
one GOD...
If u truly want logical/ sensible answers to ur questions, just embrace Islam.....
Most of the Hindus have realized that now their hande made idols don't work any more.....
I wellcome u to my religion...
The trues one..
God bless u & show u the right path....

Man made idols are for concentration and to prevent deviation of your mind while praying. God created everything and so anything is God`s manifestation and can be worshipped as per Hinduism. Catholic Christians worship Mary, Infant Jesus and Christ on cross. Other Christians pray before a wooden cross that is man made. All churches have man made cross as the peak. Man made candle light glorifies all such crosses.Muslims keep a copy of Qoran only at a specified place and remove shoes while touching and reading it. Muslims also turn towards Mecca and imagine Kaaba in mind while praying.
Your religion should be based on your faith ,not on what your family members think.

Many people believe that all gods are created by man. It's not an uncommon belief at all, actually--all gods may very well be "photographs" of something else we can't describe. Some people choose to go as straight to the source as they can; others are more comfortable with the photographs. It's all a matter of what works for you personally.

I have often wondered that but never asked out of respect for their culture. I wondered if they had a car accident on an isolated raod and the car was on fire...the doors were jammed, would they call on an elephant God for help??
I wish I could provide a good answer for you, and tell you its all real.
This is a question that is obviously on your heart. Breaking family tradition is never easy. I will pray for your spiritual journey to come to rest peacefully.
You really need to find this answer about what to do from your spirit. Personally i am christian. We try to practice love and peace to the best of our human ability through the power of the spirit, we believe given by Jesus and God. I'm sure you already knew that.
Hope you find peace my brother

Honest question.
I don't know if this will help; but, I'll try.
It makes no sense to bow down to Idols. Exactly for the reasons you gave.
Jews and Christians aren't supposed to; but many did and/or are doing it today. The jews bowed to the Golden Calf and follow the "Star of David (actually pagan Astoroth Star)".
Catholics pray to (or through as they say) images of Mary, Saints, etc. Many Christians bow down to worship Christ through a cross or crucifix (actually it is the Mark of The Beast).
Muslims have many "holy sites" that they worship and pray to (example Mecca). Not to mention the Rosaries and prayer beads that are common to Catholicism and Islam, respectively.
Makes no sense to me, and as for my religion; I'm a bit of a strange bird. I have no idols or symbols, no doctrine except the Bible. No mentor, except Christ and a friend I correspond with from time to time. I just do my best to obey the commandments and serve the Lord; but, still I know that it won't get me to heaven. I know that i can only get there by what something Christ did almost 2000 years ago, for everybody else He chose and lastly me. I make no claims to grandeur realizing that I'm just not that important. I'll probably reside in the most obscure part of Heaven; but at least I'll get to see and worship the Lord and there won't be any evil there. That alone is worth the trip for me...seeing the Lord. Th absence of evil is just the icing on the cake.
Not everybody believes what I do; but, there is still time..as long as they still draw a breath. I can't save everyone...truth is I can't save anybody, let alone myself. The saving or salvation of people is up to the Lord. They think it's up to them; but, did they really wake up one morning and say..."I'll have waffles for breakfast and around 4 pm today I'm going to be a Christian". Didn't happen to me that way, I didn't choose Him, He first chose me. What reason? I don't have any justification other than He is good and merciful. I just accepted the truth.
I know somewhat of what you're up against. I wasn't always a Christian. In fact my wife and my mother were both raised Catholic; which used to be fine with me. I guess I was what you would call Agnostic at the time. I believed in "a God" and that was about it. I went to mass with my wife a time or to and was a little eager to talk with the priest about the Bible after the service; but, He wanted to talk about Catechism...well so much for Christianity I supposed.
It was when my wife wanted to get me into that church although she rarely went herself that I figured I'd better start reading the old Bible my grandmother gave me. When I started learning about what the Bible said and not what all these churches said....it opened up a whole new
world for me. Even if you don't become Christian, read the Bible, there's a lot of questions that will be answered there..if about nothing else than what a true Christian is supposed to be like.
I'll pray that all turns out well for you, Lord willing.

LOL, I do not know. I always thought that was quite strange myself. You build a statue and then start asking it to give you stuff. From what I understand, the holy hindu men like to bathe in the urine of cows.
I think the term SATI sums it all up for me. Not meaning to offend you, but I personally would never follow a religion that says it's seen as admirable to burn your wife on your death fire and it's ok if the children are thrown in there with her since all are your property, and not humans that feel the pain of the fire as it burns them up in YOUR glory.
