You would have to check both Federal and State laws I should imagine; you might even have to check UK export laws. Although it is legal to buy it in the UK, you would be exporting an already imported (and subject to duty tax etc) item.

Shipping alcohol laws very from state to state. And as for federal laws in the U.S. it is illegal to manufacture, sell and purchase Absinthe in bars and liquor stores. But I haven't found anything about consuming it. The reason Absinthe is illegal in the U.S. is because it contains thujone from wormwood. But Absinthe that does not contain the chemical thujone can be sold in the U.S.

Laws for important Alcohol varies state to state, but that does not matter to you, since wormwood is illegal in the U.S.

Absinthe is illegal in the US. It can be detained by customs, even if it is being shipped from one country to another, and a lot of boxes are x-rayed if they are coming from overseas. Sorry, Americans are very paranoid.

Yes, its perfectly legal to have it shipped in, just illegal to produce or sell in the states. And of course, my favorite, its very legal to drink it! use these sites for the best delivery:

shipping for absinthe is expensive but definately worth it.

The import of alcohol is the same everywhere in the US. You'd be safest to have somebody flying in bring a bottle. One bottle of any kind of alcoholic beverage is allowed for people flying in.

My husbands work buddy ordered absinthe off the internet, and got it two weeks later. Maybe he just got lucky?

Hi mary,,
I am not quite sure,, you may want your friend to ask or you may can look up the state he or she or they live in online and find out..
I would , if they know about it, ask them to find out more.. it would be easier.... get them to talk to someone in the post office ,, they will or should know the shipping laws of liquor..
goodluck
