My son is 7.5 months old.

He is very weak and just of average weight.

The problem is that he does not take any other food apart from mother,s feed. The mothers' feed is not sufficient.

He clenches his lips very tight and refuses to eat any other thing that we try to feed him (cerelac, mashed fruits/vegetable etc.).
So he remains hungry for upto 24 hours and keep crying all the time.

If we force him by persisitng for long, he immediately vomits out whatever he has eaten.

But when he has taken mothers feed, he is hapy for sometime and does not vomit.

What could be wrong? How to rectify the problem?

When my daughter was about 10-12 months old, she only wanted milk. She became anemic. Her pediatrician told me to let her get hungry and eventually she would eat food.

I would recommend starting with bland tasting food like rice cereal and add your mother's milk to it. Give the same food for a few days to both allow your baby to adjust to the texture/flavor and to check for potential allergies. Go from cereals with your milk to bland vegetables to sweet vegetables (carrots and sweet potatoes) to the very last thing being fruits (save citrus for after 12 months old).

It will try your patience to have a crying baby, but don't give in. Have a friend of family member give you breaks so you don't go crazy. Keep at it! It the best thing for your babies health.

Good luck!

Your son is trying to do what is best for him and you are trying to thwart him! Please stop! Children need only a mother's milk for the first year of life. This is a medical fact, and if you ask your doctor I am sure he will confirm this... If your doctor is a decent doctor!
Yes, having milk does mean that they will be hungry faster than if they are eating solid foods, but that is not a real problem. Parents are supposed to love their kids enough to feed them frequently! THERE IS NO PROBLEM except that his parents think there is a problem!
If you want to do what is best for your child feed him his mother's milk until he is ready for food of more substance-- this should be after one year of age! Obviously he will let you know when the time is right. Please accept his guidance on this one. He will know when he is ready.
Please don't ever force feed your child. His system is not ready for solids and this is why he vomits.
Please consult your doctor before making this situation worse!

you have to take it slowly, maybe mix other things in with the mother's milk. the world is scary and he has no idea what is going on.

"The nervous system also needs to mature so the baby can recognize a spoon, coordinate swallowing, and signal if hungry or full. Feeding solids before the baby has these skills is really a kind of force-feeding. Introducing solids too early may contribute to overfeeding and result in food allergies, which can cause gastrointestinal and other problems."

Take your baby to the hospital, that should be your first resort not Yahoo answers...Sorry but that doesnt sound right at all, at 7 1/2 months old your baby will almost be ready for table foods! He cannot depend on breastmilk his whole life. Have you even consulted a pediatrician yet, If not please do A.S.A.P

ive got three kids that all did the same, i started by putting breast milk in bottles and adding the rice cereal, only a teaspoon, but it filled them up enought to sleep allnite, then after they get used to the taste of the cereal you can start making it thicker by adding more and eventually feeding by spoon,
is he on bottles?
