Can I admit that I still cannot fathom how anybody could be both a christian, and, believe in science.
I was an athiest for 25 years, then became a Christian, as I lived for 2 years amongst a mix of good and bad (!!!!!!!) Christians. I guess that I opened my heart or something... I am so very thankful for the experience - however much sarcasim is flowing on this page...
But after living both "lives" and experiencing both "sides", I still cant draw an answer to this question from any part of me...
You know, some days I think that I must be a Christian as I "feel" that feeling - that wonderous feeling...
But if I were to think scientifically on any topic - religion just flies out the window. Things reglious wise - cannot be explained by science due to the embarrassing impossibilty that any of it could have ever happened..... The logical side of me snaps me back to reality pretty fast.
But, there are times that I feel as though someone is there with me - if I am having a smoke, a drink, or a cry - it is just a feeling.
But, I strongly believe that religion has been the start of nearly every war that has ever occurred on this earth - the history books are there to prove it... Unfortunitely this will probably continue and could be the end/ruination of mankind/life as we know it just through bloody religion.
Thankyou for your question - it was thought provoking.

A detail study of history would show that many have used the name of religion to further their ambitions and plans. Unfortunately, Christianity has been a victim of such wars throughout history, of which the most infamous would be the crusades. Other religions are also unfortunately maligned by minority or radical groups. Just think 9/11.
For the record, not all Christian groups are against science.

Any religion that opposes science is being ridiculous. Anything from a basic tool like a spear all the way to a supercomputer is technology, and this technology is developed using the methodology of science. Therefore, if a religion rejects science, then they have to reject the texts which they base their beliefs on, because without science they would not have the paper or ink in which they are written.

Religion does not oppose science at all. Infact religion invite people to get knowledge and use it for betterment of humanity.
Qura'n invits people to explore universes and use knowledge for humanity.
Qura'n is full of scientific knowledge and if we deeply read Qura'n we will find extensive knowledge yet to explore.
1400 years back God put signs of trumendous knowledge in Qura'n. Now step by step Human's are finding those signs and able to prove about those indications given in Qura'n.
Prophet Muhammad was not a learnered person, he was not a scientist but in Qura'n we can find trumendous scientific signs, 1400 years back no human has clue about that.

That's just stupid! I DARE YOU to find anywhere in the history of mankind and religion where an Independent, Fundamental, Baptist has ever opposed science and have hands stained with blood from starting wars. The Roman Catholic Church DOES NOT represent the New Testament Church. Just so you know...I love singing "Onward Christian Soldiers" we sing it in our church now and then.

I love debating people like larry on the Inquisition and the Crusades. I've been doing it a long time.
First, bigots dont use facts, they use hype borrowed from other bigots who have borrowed from the most inaccurate laughable "resources" available, whereas,
I use facts and scholarly resources that clearly refutes the nonsense that has been brainwashing peple like larry, who has been suckered in by spiritual porn dealers who make millions exploiting fear and ignorance.
This is not the place. Name your forum, larry.

Ironic how the anti-religious like 'larry' lie about religion while pretending to be on the side of 'truth' and 'science'.
'larry', did you know there were *millions* more killed in the last hundred years by staunch atheists than there were by staunch religious people?
**millions more**
According to your 'logic' you, being an 'atheist', are to blame for these deaths.
Or is it only the religious people who get blamed for killing?
Then again, why am I even bothering with your nonsense...

The hypocrisy is mind-boggling, isn’t it?
----------------------------------------
gmcfayden –
You might not be opposed to science, but you do not really know anything about it, do you? Science is not applicable to the question of God’s existence (pending the discovery of empirical evidence). And, for your general knowledge; by strict definition the only outcomes of a hypothesis test are: 1). Reject the null hypothesis, or 2). fail to reject the null hypothesis.

I don't. That's why I converted from christianity into Islam, becuase science backs Islam, and I am one who will only listen to something if it can be proven without a doubt.
