no, but she can leave. isn't that some ****? you can however take legal action against her if she is violent or a theif. you can put her in alternative school, military school. or suffer through the last year then evict her. if she isn't in school then you may have a chance, call up a lawyer's office, they will usually give you a bit of advice over the phone about what they can or can not do for you.

also, i know how you must feel. some parents are bad parents and just don't want there kids, but some just can't handle them. teens these days have zero respect. my sister tells my mom to shut up and digs through her room and stuff. she isn't as bad as it seems but a lot are. i'm so glad that my baby is still so little. i hope that your of the latter sort, so kids are just un reachable until they have faced reality and realize that they are not all that they think they are, they need a dose of humilty and it sucks that its get that bad sometimes.

I'm not even going to ask why on earth you would want to do this, I'll just address the question as it's asked based on laws I'm familiar with. It depends strongly on where you live and upon what grounds. In alot of states, it's illegal to just throw ANYONE out onto the street - You have to serve them a court ordered eviction notice and they have 30 days to move. This also applies to adult or almost adult children living at home. A parent cannot just throw their child out onto the street. An adult or an almost adult child is considered a tenant under local laws in many states. There are also laws protecting those under the age of 18. So you need to speak to two attorneys - One regarding local landlord/tenant laws and a family lawyer as well.

Um ..... tricky question.

First of all, depending on your location, maybe. You'd have to check into the legalities involved. I'm in Ontario, Canada, and here, no, you definitely cannot.

Secondly, why on earth are you trying to kick your child out? You can use the word 'evict', but you're not a landlord and their not your tenant. You're the parent and it's your responsibility to take care of and support that child, including giving it shelter, until it reaches legal age. If you weren't prepared to take your responsibility seriously, why did you have children???

Sorry if i sound mean but your name says master but yet you want to evict your child thats cruel!!! I know they might be giving you alot of trouble but as a parent you can't just kick your kid out on the street where they know nothing about this sorry world we live in! All u can do is pray things will get better and try talking with the child to see whats going on in there lives see if u can help or get them the help they need! If that doesn't work and they want to leave on there on tell them to file for emancipation and that u will sign but if it was my child i wouldn't let my kid leave untill they were legal and i know that they were ok and not in trouble or in harms way...I love mine and there is nothing that they can do to me to wanna kick them out...

Eviction is for tenants not for children.
You might look for another family that will take in your teenager.
Sometimes you just don't have the patience to deal with your own teenager's behaviour but another family does. When they do leave make sure you keep the medical insurance on them for that year. We have taken in 3 teenagers in that age group and one father was so vindictive he cancelled her medical insurance!
She turned out to be a great adult too! his loss.

You dont explain WHY you want to "evict" your child, or even give any details into what he/she is doing to make you want to kick them out. But, I've got to say.. your simple question has proven to me that this 17 yr old kid probably acts the way he/she does because he/she has a worthless parent like you. I cant even fathom wanting to kick my kids out.. no matter what they do or say! If your kid had a good MATURE adult parent to raise him/her the way a parent should, he/she probably wouldnt even be a bad kid.. bad enough for you to want to kick them out! This is pathetic and an insult to all parents nation wide!

Absolutely not.

The only way to do it would be to give up your parental rights, which would take longer than the year before he/she turns 18.

If he/she WANTS to leave, they can petition the court to be emancipated, which means to be considered an adult, and you'd sign some paper saying you're okay with it.

If there's a family member who would let him/her live at their home, it might be easier. You'd have to sign over custody to that relative, but doing those things within the family rarely causes a court fight like giving up all rights does.
