Snoring CAN be related to weight gain, but many slender people snore as well. There may be a genetic component.

Snoring can be a symptom of a very serious disorder called sleep apnea, which can, if untreated, lead to heart damage and even death.

If you snore softly once in a while, then this is probably not apnea, but if you shake the house, snore like a bear, and drive your spouse to the guest bedroom, then apnea is a distinct probability. Sounds like your husband is in the second group, so he needs medical help, not poking, smothering, or kicking!

Apnea is usually treated with the use of a device called a CPAP. He can't just buy one of these - they are sold only on prescription, as the pressure needs to be adjusted to his individual needs, with too high pressure being as dangerous as too low. CPAP stops snoring 100% and usually makes the patient feel generally more energetic and alert during the day as well.

Please get him to ask his doctor to refer him to a sleep clinic right away. They usually have a long waiting list, and it's important to get the process started ASAP.

Normal snoring, simply make the person roll over. You'll find they snore when on their backs, but if you push them onto their sides they normally stop.

If the snoring goes beyond normal, a doctor needs to be seen. Severe snoring can be a sign of sleep apnea and other respiratory problems.

a snore is a sign of an upper airway or nasal obstruction, so you need to find out the sight of obstruction. is the snore coming completely from a nasal obstruction, or is it an upper airway obstruction. have an overnight oximetry done to find out if your oxygen saturations are dropping. if there is a sawtoothing pattern in your oxygen sats, further investigation should be done, like a formal sleep study. investigate sleep disorders at the american academy of sleep medicine, or the association of polysomnographic technologists website.

Sleep apnea could be a problem if it is a C-Pap would help. If it is not that bad you could try a neck roll/snore pillow. In order to get a c-pap you need a sllep study done. Is the person sleepy most of the time are can fall asleep anywhere? do they kick a lot while sleeping? Have you heard them stop breathing for short periods of time while they sleep? These are some things to look for with sleep apnea.

Hi, snoring is no big deal and don't be worried, visit to your pharmacy and tell them that you snore and u would like to buy the park to prevent u from snoring at night. You will put that ring in your nostrils when going to sleep to open your airway and when this is done there will no snoring. Pray that God will let this work for you.

I once went out with some guy that snored pretty hecticly, I would hold their nostrils closed, you know like pinch their nose, makes them stop snoring for a bit, just keep doing it and they'll turn on their sides to avoid the pinching, and walllaaa! they've stoped snoring

The breathe right strips are supposed to work....only they don't work on everyone....depends on your problem.....I brought some with me to a hotel room I was sharing with 2 friends who I knew snored like crazy in the night......I made them wear the strips.......my one friend snored and the other slept soundly.

Tell him to roll over on his stomach. But, seriously, this person could be suffering from sleep apnea. If this is a very real problem, have him checked out by a doctor who may order a sleep study.
