I agree...God created all, even laughter and silliness.
He also created reverance, there is a time and place for all.
Thank you,
David

Your talking about the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth. No one who serves God wants to think of people trashing Him. But I do think God has a sense of humor too. I just look around and think that. However, I also think there is a point where it is not appropriate for people to crack jokes or things of that nature.

Theism is based on faith, which is more of a function of the emotions than of the intellect, I think. Therefore, their attachment to their God(s) is more like that to a beloved protector than to an intellectual idea. If someone disproves some intellectual idea you have, you probably won't be pleased, but you'll change your idea if your interested in truth. If someone tries wipe out the existence of your fatherly guardian and guide, you're likely to respond with a fight or confrontation.
Logic is expressed and defended logically
Empiricism is expressed and defended empirically
Emotion is expressed and defended emotionally

Whose bent?
If you are a Christian, you know that God existed before He created everything we can observe.
God is spirit. God is love. We worship God in spirit and in truth.
Can you quote the verses that says it is OK to make fun of God or that God has a sense of humor?
We only know of God by the words spoken by the prophets. Those words are documented in the bible. Do those words match your words? Maybe you should consult His book.

I think because it is a very personal and very sacred belief. To offend someone's beliefs is the worse offense because that belief usually defines who a person is, what their character is like. It's hard to take something so deep and so important as that lightly.

Most religious people were brainwashed as children to be fanatics. Christians and Muslims are identical in this regard. They are too weak to question or change their beliefs. Hence, they get "bent out of shape."

Everybody has their opinions. Strong ones. And their way is right. Period. Shame that everyone can't lighten up or just not ask the question that is going to get angry answers.

It's believing in the unseen. So many people need some life-lessons to make believers out of them.

"Why do people get so bent out of shape when it comes to God?"
Ummmmm, wait, I know this one.
Right! *snap fingers*
Because the 11th commandment was "Thou shalt practice a rigorous and bizarre form of yoga in My name"
