You need to resolve whatever it is that is bothering you from within you. You can begin by giving yourself time to 'not care about anything'. Or you can even tell yourself that you're the most stubborn person on the world and you won't tolerate being unhappy! Hey, it sometimes works.

People pursue happiness as though it were something you could buy or a state you can reach like Texas. It is neither. Nor does happiness come from a bottle or pill.

Happiness is a state of mind that is an occasional reward for doing the right thing. It is a feeling of self-satisfaction, when your intention, actions, and results are aligned with what is right.

When you do something to aid someone who needs your help - someone less fortunate in one way or another - and what you do actually helps them, then you find yourself feeling happy.

Example:
When you have been up since dawn helping make a turkey dinner for the homeless, the food is all gone, the folks are all fed, and you are so tired you can hardly see, but you know that without you and your friends there would not have been this feed, then a happiness descends upon you.

Whenever I feel sad for myself or the world, what I do is try to help someone else. And you know, it generally works pretty well.

Firstly, what's that bugging you down that you can't be happy...try to resolve that. Once you have made yourself clear that you want to just be happy, like you have asked...listen to really good music, take pictures with strangers for a good laugh, write things that is bugging you in your journal if you have, gather encouraging words all about yourself, if you have a fountain at home...listen to the tinkling sound as the water falls and the best is sleep...and when you wake up call a very happy and cheerful person and tell that person...all I want to do is laugh and be happy. Im sure that person will dig something up to amuse you. So til, then...be happy....there's so much fun waiting for you to be happy and smiling.

I hope you will be happy...be happy, you only have things to lose if you're not happy.

1. PRAY

2. Realize that nothing and no one is perfect.

3. Figure out what makes you happy and do it often. Something must make you smile. (playing with a puppy or a kitten, listening to a child laugh, reading a trashy romance novel, scrapbooking, collecting something, talking to a friend on the phone, going to church, singing in the shower, playing monopoly...) Whatever it is, no matter how silly others think it is...DO IT!

4. Volunteer your time helping someone who is less fortunate than you. (read books to blind people, write letters or Christmas cards for seniors, hold abandoned babies in hosptitals, be a Big Brother/Big Sister to a foster child, volunteer during Thanksgiving and Christmas to help serve food to homeless people).

5. Start a Gratitude Journal and write in it every day. Just find ONE THING everyday to be thankful for, and write it down. Pretty soon you will be so filled with joy and forgetting about whatever was bringing you down.

I think the best way for being happy is to accept the life with all ups and downs. We usually aren't happy because we want more than what we have so we should like what we have.
Also i think if we determine some goals for our life, then we'd have something to try to achieve and this will make our life meaningful.

i think you have to get to know yourself and what makes you special. maybe try not focusing so much on happiness, but on doing things that make you feel purposeful, like work, volunteering or studies that you feel are important. i think that happiness is often a byproduct of living a life that matters, by contributing to the world (however that's not to say that you can't ever relax and have fun too). if you feel very confused or very unhappy, you may want to talk to a counsellor about your feelings. i wish you all the best.

Be true to yourself; don't let anyone talk you into doing anything you believe to be wrong or immoral. Then you will have self-respect & no regrets.

Don't waste your time with people who bring out the worst in you; don't stay with lover if you don't love them (can waste best yrs of your life). Always work hard; you will enjoy the rewards. People must find their own happiness but be kind to others & help those who need it.

Like someone else said, hand over your heart to Jesus Christ. I never thought it would work, but when I did, the blessings and happiness started pouring into my life. Things won't always be grand, but He'll give you a strong foothold in life and He'll never give you more than you can handle.

to be happy is a feeling that is come in contact with when something that triggers these chemicals called endorphins in your brain to give you a sense of elation hence caused by laughter, or something exciting ocurrs,
a hobby for instance can cause some happiness, some find joy in helping others, some find happiness in hearing music, jokes, reminiscing, exercising releases these endorphins as well, eating something sweet, the list can continue but i hope this helps somewhat
