use the pumice stone on your hands after a long hot bath or shower, or just a soak for your hannds. you can soak your hands in a mixture of lemon juice and milk. then, use the pumice stone to scrub away the roughness. lube up with some avon intensive care lotion throughout the day. (its a very thick lotion that stays on and penetrates deeeeep into your skin. even AFTER you wash your hands! its STILL on!! i have to wash my hands 2-3 times before ALL the lotion is gone.)>>>>http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.asp?src_page=product_list.asp&level1_id=300&level2_id=303&pdept_id=346&dept_id=&pf_id=5905
at night, get some cotton sleeping gloves http://www.bedandbathstore.com/product/bath-accessories/115300/bbs-home-white-cotton-sleeping-gloves.html
and have some of the avon lotion on your hands as you sleep. ((if its extremely bad, supplement that with vaseline)
hope that softens your hands!

Okay, here it is, the ultimate answer. Mostly everyone is RIGHT.
What you can do is
1. Moisturize. Like everyone said and like you said. You don't need a whole lot of money. Vaseline works wonders, as does Aloe, Nivea and the whole nine, but really any lotion will do
2. Wear gloves at night. It really does seal in the moisture. You don't need fancy sport gloves if you cant afford them. Any glove that will hold moisture will do. Even the plastic bag trick
3. NOTHING will soften your hands, or feet like a pumice stone. They have them everywhere. Walmart sells them for like a dollar. Woman rub their feet with them, so go to the cosmetics section or ask. Wet the stone and your hand, then rub the stone on your hand back and forth. Then put lotion on your hands. They will fill softer instantly. After a few days you will see a big differnce.
and what you NEED to do is
4. Remember that calloused hands are a sign of a hard worker, and many women find it sexy. (If you are man). Most women don't want to be rubbed with hands that feel like another woman is rubbing them. DON'T BE ASHAMED.
and don't squeeze so hard.
Are you sure these people aren't just saying you have a tight grip? Because saying someone has strong palms is a strange way of saying they have rough hands.

I believe the same method can go for palms as it would heels of your feet. I would rub on as much lotion as you can, literally you want to saturate your hand. I would try cocoa butter cream. Then just take a sandwich bag and put it over your hand then put a rubber band around your wrist for 30 minutes, this enables your skin from breathing in anything except the moisture! Hope this helps

shamefully I am not a doctor but I do many sports and I use a sports glove that is made of the same material that some people wrap around their belly to make it sweat. It's like a stretchy, foamy material usually black on one side and blue on the other, Also same as scuba body suit material After a day of using those gloves my hands dramatically soften up. Hopefully it works for you too.

Use some exfoliating lotion. I know this may sound a little funny but there's a product called pretty hands and feet, also dr scholl's has a good alternative. In a weeks time you'll be able to rub one out with no more pain!!!

Nightmares? That sounds so extreme! Go to a dermatologist. Or buy some really good, expensive hand cream--put copious amounts of it on your hands at night, and wear thin gloves (or even latex gloves) to bed, so that the cream stays on your hands all night and does not evaporate, etc.

Well strong sounds sexy to me! :) On a serious note, its probably dead skin that has thicken so try and exfoliate it with a scrubbing cream or lotion - gradually you will see the effect. Once you get rid of that, you can try the hand lotions and moisturizers which will give very soft hands.

I agree with sophist and husam but don't go spending mega bucks on lotions and creams, invest in a glove, and lots of vaseline, that is the oldest and most effective moisturizer there is.keep it on all night long. you'll see results in a couple of weeks.
good luck

Be proud of your coarse hands. It indicates that you are hardworking and a diligent worker. To some, it is even sexier. So instead of having nightmares, thank God you have normal, coarse hands, but still normal nevertheless.
