As understand it...having been around during the years that breakdancing was beginning...Capoeria was one of the places that the breakdancers got some of their more acrobatic movements, along with traditional jazz dance, gymnastics, and some of the previous forms of street dancing like popping and locking. They also borrowed movements form some of the chinese kung fu styles as well and when you watch the old breakdancing demos from the 80's you can see those influences.

They are not related at all. break dance fighting if you can even call it that is not even a real form of fighting. Where Capoeria, is a more gymnastic form of fighting with combinations of kung-fu, tiger styles, and acrobatics. This combined with the natural flow of the Brazilian beats that they pay with it can be misconstrued as some sort of playful dance, but it is an actual style of fighting and should be taken serious.
