vet but in the mean time I'd like to know what is going on. She started shaking and yelping when we touched her Sunday night. She had been inside all day so she hasn't eaten anything unusual. I had to take my mother to the doctor yesterday so I couldn't get her to the vet. When I got back she was better. This morning she was fine. This evening she was okay but would not let me pet her.
When I touched her she starting yelping again. She went into her crate. Now she is laying on the couch. She did let my husband pet her. She usually always comes to me and sits in my lap. I petted her the other night and she yelped so she may be skiddish of me now. She yelped at lot when we got her. She was dropped off and
we thought maybe she had been beaten. The vet checked her out and said she was okay. She's had her shots. Any idea of what is wrong with her?

We've had her for abt. a year now and she has always preferred me to my husband. She always runs to me when she thinks she is trouble. I just wonder if my petting her in a sore spot made her fearful that I was trying to hurt her?

could have a dog flu or something. usually behavoir over just a couple days doesn't signal much on its own. i doubt you behave exactly the same every day and dogs don't either.

This is a puzzler.
Those little dogs are so sensitive to every little thing, that it could be a number of problems making her react that way.
Call your vet. Most offer "drop off" appointments so that you can leave her at the vet for treatment, stay in touch with the vet by phone (they call with exam findings, test results etc.), and pick her up later in the day. That way you can deal with your mom, and your doggie can get the attention she needs too.
Good luck to you. I hope both your mother and your doggie are OK.

Lucy , No I,n not a vet. But I do know that when our dogs get sick, they usually like to go off To be alone, as to heal . This sounds allot like what my little one did ... and she just wanted to be left a lone ... I watched over her for two days (of coruse).... if this thing is still happening Take your dog back to the vet. And make him deal with the problem..'Please'! They are our kids ...come on now!!!
good luck!

I'm going to agree withthe person who said that it sound like a dog flu. My healthy little guys reacted the same way recently I took them to the vet and they were healthy. They did jsut get their shots.the day before it happened. How about yours you mentioned it was it recent that they got their shot?

Sounds like she's been previously beaten, probably by a female.

You will win her over eventually, it takes time for them to trust again, but she will.

If you don't object to treats, give her a treat when you pet her and she will realize you are not going to hurt her.

good luck..

sure, he has attachment complications. regrettably, there is not a lot you may do about it. Your mom can attempt to be extra appealing so as that he's distracted. That, or get him a playmate.
