Most likely your puppy will be ok, but you really should call the national poison control line or Dove Lewis to ask them because of the dose and the small size of your puppy. That's what is worrisome. Dog livers metabolize things differently than humans, and you may want to be certain that your puppy hasnt ingested a dangerous dose.
Dove Lewis Animal Hospital 503.262.7194 www.dovelewis.org
from Dove Lewis animal hospital - Poisoning:
Have the number of an animal poison control center always readily available. Signs of poisoning are varied and often non-specific and may be delayed depending on the type of toxin ingested. Some common sources of poisoning are: medications, household cleaners, insecticides/pesticides, chemicals and plants. If you know an animal ingested something that might be toxic call poison control immediately and bring the animal to the veterinarian. NEVER INDUCE VOMITING WITHOUT THE ADVICE OF A VETERINARIAN. Certain toxins can cause more damage or complications if vomiting occurs. Whenever possible bring the container or label of the product ingested or if it was plant material such as mushrooms bring a sample with you to the veterinarian.

15lbs does seem a bit small for a larger breed dog. You might even consider going to a higher grade brand dog food. Science diet is an ok dog food, but can have a lot of by products in them. I have a 2 year old Boxer female and we feed her 1.5 cups AM and 1.5 cups PM = 3 cups a day. She is a solid 68lbs. She's an active gal, so that does play a part in it. We've fed her Canidea, Artemis, Solid Gold. They are higher grade dog foods, but there are no by products or junky food for dogs in them. It'll fill them up with "good stuff". Most puppies tend to get up to 4 cups a day. Again, this should be based on their exercise regimen and current weight. It'll be easier to add weight than to lose it. Like the earlier post. Larger breeds tend to do better as they grow in to adults on the thinner side.

He should be fine, I have to give my GSD benadryl since he was 10 months old and he gets 50 mg 2x per day. If you are really worried call the vet and ask, better safe than sorry.

Yes, although we usually would have prescribed a 1/2 tablet based on the weight of your dog, he might feel extra lethargic for awhile, but he should be fine. We consult to give bendryl for instant itching relief after a bee sting or hives. It is not a fix all, and I understand this was an accident, but he should be fine.

The effect of Benadryl will show after 2 hrs and it will continue for at least another 4 hrs.
There is a sedating effect so he will be drowsy or appear drunk.

Yes. My puppy had severe allergies to crab grass and the vet prescribed benadryl. Your puppy will be sleepy. but if you notice any signs of being lethargic, vomiting, or any strange behavior i would take him to the vet immediately. P.S. puppies get into EVERYTHING. Please put things like medication, small toys(when not supervised), plants, ect. out of the reach of your little one. they know no difference between Benadryl and puppy treats. Hope your little one is alright.

I think your dog will be fine, probably a little drowsy, but fine. If you are that concerned you can always call the emergency vet and ask them. Good luck, Let us know how he does.

Your dog will be fine. Though just like different people react to different meds he may get a little sick to his stomach because hes not use to it. But dogs are very hardy animals, he will be fine. If he would have ate the whole bottle I would have suggested you take him to the vet, but one even two pills wont hurt him. I've even had vets tell me to give my dogs pills when they are sick. (I'm not suggesting it unless you talk to your vet)
