well, when told to leave to your burdens with God, it means to leave behind your ugly ways such as the things you did in the past and felt guilty about. leaving your burdens behind is leaving all your worriers, pains, sorrows, and hatred behind meaning not to think about these things anymore but instead look up to God for sense of direction to be a new person in him. basically , its being born again but in a spiritual way. I hope this help you a bit about your understanding about leaving your burdens with God. I'm just 15 and with all my knowledge about God so far I came up with the best answer I can.

Actually it revolves around what captures your attention. Sometimes worrying about something can take our mind away from doing something about it. You encapsulate yourself with it. When you allow god to share your burden, you are in a better place to be able to look out side the box.. To deal with it.
This also works by sharing your troubles and concerns with those that care.

Both, anything that troubles you or bothers you,
something you don't have an answer for,
means give it to Jesus and he will take care of it, and you won't have to.
Jesus Carry's our burdens, a weight, something heavy.
Just talk to him about it and say Lord Jesus I give this to you, I can not handle this. And he will, and you will feel so much better.
God is a good God.
Nothing is too much for him.

Both.
Leave your sins at the cross (Nail 'em to the Cross... beautiful song, BTW). Leave your troubles at Jesus' feet.
