Ive heard that they can be, but if you go to a really good salon they can look great. I mean, tons of celebs. get them done, they can ALL be bad for hair. You know?
And to the answer before me, did your friend actually go to a really nice salon or...? JW.

Absolutely NOT...IF you go to a knowledgable and qualified specialist and don't goto someone just because their price is cheap or less expensive. There are several different versions and a qualified person can explain the various procedures. There are those now with adhesive that can be put right up to the root, so the growth isn't noticed as quickly as those with keratine on the end that is melted with a hot appliance onto a few of your own hairs. A version I have been using for several years is the one where you order the hair on a band and cut off what you need. The operator heats up a special keratine glue in a tiny machine and applies the glue to the very tip of the end that will be attached to your hair and with a tiny rubber piece presses the glue into place to hold the extension in place for 1, 2, or even 3 months of growth. My hair is full healthy and I use only a few (20 or so only) for an effect of highlights instead of damaging too much of my own hair. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Extensions should not damage your hair if it is done by professionals & if properly cared for & maintained ... You must be careful brushing... If you have a tangle, hold the hair while you brush it especially if your hair is fragile... Have them redone about every 6 weeks... But there are people that I've heard saying that sometimes when you need to take the extensions off, it will cause your hair to fall out...
FYI, today the clip ins are also called extensions... Extensions ( weaving, braiding or bonding) are usually applied by a stylist but with clip ins many customers can do it on their own at home... It is far more easier to use (just clip it to your original hair & no 1 can tell if you are wearing it), you can change to any hair styles that you want & the most important thing is, it won't cause any damage to your hair...
So I would strongly suggest that if you ever want to consider wearing hair extensions, use clip ins instead...
Check out the link below... It offers tones of varieties of hair extensions that you could choose from...

It depends what type of hair extension method you use/and or get. Theres so many new ways of getting hair extensions done which arent damaging. The best ones to get are the strand by strand fusion. Its applied using a heat appliance to melt keratin protein glue which isnt damaging at all. Braiding them in would be the only one damaging because the braids themselves can break your hair if done too tight.Other than that I do them to clients and I get them done all the time and I have yet too see damage so no they arent damaging for the most part.

It depends on the method used to put them in. Gluing them in is the worst way while sewing them in over braids tend to be the safest way. Make sure the person who does them is a professional so you can get what is safest for your type of hair.

no they are not. You must remember that they must be taken very good care of or they will began to look horrible. And you must also remember that they are not really real, and just like almost anything else man-made they will have to be replaced, u will just have to know when it is time.

they dont damage ur hair, but when they braid her hair to weave it in its really tight, so when you take the braids out, some of your hair might fall out
