Not if it is BAD LAW.... and there IS such a thing. People are frustrated past any reasonable limits by corrupt government (including police) and are finally boiling over.
They are people seeking justice.

Try to imagine if everyone took the law into their own hands. We would be a society out of control. We, as a civilized culture, are controlled by laws and limits......Vigilantes ARE Law Breakers. The end result would be anarchy, not peace.

Vigilantes are law breakers. The world would be in a terrible state if it were run by mob rule. It would be like re birthing the Nazi's.

Well, they are technically law breakers and I don't know about peace, but I say more power to them. One of my favourite movies is Boondock Saints because it makes the best point about vigilantes. There's so much red tape and crap you have to go thru to get someone who really deserves it and sometimes I think it's the right thing to do when you just cut out the middle man and get the bastard.

If one mile ahead of me I see a child trapped on a railroad track, I would drive as fast as I could to get there to save the child. I would travel 100 MPH and break the law, but I will get there and save the child before a train kills him. In this situation I broke the law but saved someone. I think vigilantes ARE law breakers, but their end result is better for society.

Vigilantes are people seeing vengence after the 'system' has let them or thoise who they love down.
end of day if the 'system' exacted the right level of justice vigilantes would not exist.
in todays justice terms they are criminals, and they certainly dont seek peace in most cases.

Sometimes a vigilante gets more justice done than law enforcement. But legal is legal, and unless he is willing to go to jail, I wouldn't pull it.
But, if I lost my loved ones in life, and the only justice I got was the one I took in my hands, I'll go to jail, having nothing else to lose.

peace?
What is this peace? There are only people seeking their own gratification. Some people like to feel the hero without needing anyone else, even those more qualified (like the peace).
They end up doing more harm then good.

I can understand taking things into your own hands (self defense) when there is chaos, like after Katrina in New Orleans, but if there is some semblence of law enforcement around , let them handle it.
