I have windows XP professional on my home PC. A while back it crashed and I had to re-install but I lost my CD key, where can I get another one that actually works? I have tried Key generators from Limewire and WinMX w/ no luck....Help!

Key generators are illegal. You have to find the number, call the manufacturer of the pc, if you cannot locate it you will have to buy another copy.

Hey if its a legit copy of XP then its a piece of cake.

I've had to contact MS on two separate occasions for new keys to replace missing ones...
Had no problems with MS on either occasion. Had to give them the number on the CD (There is a number printed around the centre hole. They will ask for the number to confirm that you have an original disc) & my contact details.... they supplied a new key each time.

So contact Microsoft...

1) Key generators are highly illegal. The fact that you said that you've downloaded and used them means you've confessed to a crime on a public, high-traffic website. Might not wanna do that in the future.

2) Call Microsoft. Assuming you've actually purchased a legit copy of XP in the past, they should be able to help you out.
