If so , how?

Would decreasing carbs, and increasing my protein intake help me to lose weight?

And how much protein should I be having every day?

I'm vegetarian , so would need to take a protein powder shake, or a protein bar...

It makes you lose weight in the short term because protein had fewer calories and is harder for the body to break down into energy than carbs. However, it eventually catches up to you, and you begin to feel sluggish because your body can access the energy it needs

It can help you build muscle when you are doing weight resistance training. Muscle in turns burns more fat. You are more likely to be heavier when taking protein supliments as the muscle is heavier than fat but you would be trimmer.

If you cant afford a dietician then go to your local gym and ask a personal trainer. They are usually very clued up about diets to go WITH exercise. But I'd say you need professional advice and to look at your overall lifestyle.

You need many things from your diet. Dont skimp on some and take more of the other. You actually need a good balance. Doing one thing (such as having more protein) will not make you thin

Protein is there to help repair the body. So if you tear muscle fibres lifting weights then protein helps repair the fibre- which increases muscle size- you can see the connection with body builders...

Carbs are energy, if you don't use carbs they break down into simple sugars, if they don't get used up they end up as lipids- fat. So measuring the carbs in will help make sure you aren't putting to much or not enough fuel in

Best of luck ;)

no it just counter acts the effects of starch. when you eat starch your body turns starch into sugar and thus your insulin levels go high. when that happens your body will store fat. but if you eat protein with starch then your body doesn't get a insulin spike. instead of drinking a protein shake everyday try to eat something non meat like beans that will give you protein. watch out for those bars lots of them have high amounts of sugar or hidden sugar to make them eatable. as to how much to drink i'd start off looking at the container and cut it about half to see what your body will do

lean protein drinks support muscle recovery and growth, they don't make you lose weight mate...

if you seriously want to increase your muscle mass then you need to be taking 1 gram per lbs body weight,.....

I've been bodybuilding for about 17 months and have increased my protein intake dramatically...but beware your body need to get use to the change in diet so be prepared for an upset stomach for a few days......

i eat alot of tuna and chicken which are good natural sources of protein, but i also take PRO -MASS and Pro PEPTIDE (the first is a weight gainer - I've recently started, i have been using prop peptide for the duration of my training and it certainly does help muscle recovery and gain.....

as for making you thin, it doesn't burn fat... you burn fat and increase muscle, hence you probably look thinner but will weigh more as muscle weighs more than fat..

good luck

hi,

Protien and protien supplements are useful in gaining weight. Anyone who wants to have some weight must take protein supplements to gain weight but I dont think so that its helpful in loosing weight.

* Minimum Daily Protein Requirement: W.H.O. recommends 0.45 grams of protein per kilogram of ideal body weight per day.

* Maximum Daily Protein Requirement: US RDA recommends 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of ideal body weight per day.

Know complete information about protein, vitamins and its supplements before taking it. It may have adverse effect due to your lack of proper knowledge. You can look for some good educational health sites http://www.healthvitaminsguide.com and http://www.nutrition.gov
