My brother is 27, lives with his parents and isn't married. I was also wondering if anyone knew the average age a person is in the USA to marry?

well, i read an article a few months back, right around the time the movie "failure to launch" came out, that said children are living with their parents longer than they previously did. I think the average age was something like 26 or so (not totally sure) when they move out.

I'm pretty sure the average marriage age is getting higher also. Used to be 22. I think it's more like 28 now.

I don't think its normal at all unless the brother is physically or mentally unable to be on his own. My own brother is 23 and still lives at home, has never had a job, isn't married or even dating and doesn't pay for a single thing. I think that my brother and maybe yours too, needs to get with the program. Everyone else has to grow up and be responsible why not them!

Not sure if there is an "average age to get married". But if your brother is 27 and not married... well that might be his choice honestly. Give him time whatever happens will happen.

Sounds to be within normal bounds to me.

I don't know the average age exactly, but I'd guesstimate 27 - 30 ?

Depends on ur definition of normal. In the US, its not normal to live with ur parents when your that old.

*shrug* why don't u just ask him... If he's like in med school or something and he hasn't had the time to find a nice girl.

But in some asian eastern cultures, its perfectly normal for their kids to live with their parents.

in my opinion, there is no "normal", but maybe it would help to think about if it is healthy for him or not. if he has a fairly independent life and seems to be happy and so are his parents, then i don't see any harm in it. however, if it preventing him from doing things that he needs to do, then perhaps it isn't healthy for him. in a lot of cultures it is common to live with parents until marriage. i wish him and you all the best.

I know people who are older and still live at home.
