Yes, and the only people who ever claimed that those men were inspired by god were...
(drumroll please)
THE MEN THEMSELVES!!
Bah dum ching!
This simple but effective logic seems to go right over the heads of anyone that doesn't want to consider it, however.
Just remember folks. God has never spoken to you. And he has never told you he wrote the bible. Everything you know and believe about god, was hearsay.

Yes, the Bible is written by MEN in HUMAN LANGUAGE, with all its HUMAN LIMITATIONS.
But the Bible is written under the inspiration or superintendence of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible came from The Church, a church did not come from the bible.
After 3 centuries of gradual acceptance, the books were compiled into one Book by Pope Siricus and the Catholic Bishops in the year 397 A.D. Constantine had been dead for decades and had nothing to do with it.
Inspiration of the Holy Books had to be proven, not just assumed. The main proof the Church used was whether or not the scriptures lined up with Apostolic Teaching.
This is a documented provable historical fact, not just some made-up belief.

Never worry about making people mad, baby. The main thing that counts is that you think for yourself! But yeah--of course the Bible was written by mere mortals like you and I. What the biblical literalists forget, or refuse to understand is the Bible was written by a group of nomadic, largely illiterate peoples who lived 2000-3000 years ago, while trying to explain their God experiences. They told their stories using allegory and metaphor and symbolism. Those who read the Bible as a history book are missing the whole point. It wasn't meant to be one. The true irony is that the fundamenalists don't get as much out of the Bible as those of us who know it is poetry and symbolism and mythology, which is more powerful. Like if you say: "It's raining cats and dogs out there!" You convey your meaning powerfully without being literal! The deal is though: the writings were inspired by God.

Yes, and a few women...Esther and Ruth.
But yes, you're right, it was written by the common, NON PERFECT man. However, they "claim" it was inspired by God.
You know what's REALLY interesting though? I've taken a World Literature class that deals with literature from antiquity to the Renaissance, and includes sacred texts (not just the Bible). And...there are "flood stories" recorded thousands of years before the Bible was ever written for example, or of wandering in the desert or the forest, again..before the Bible was ever written by thousands of years. So..how accurate is the Bible? Or were some of these stories just passed down folklore? Hmm...makes ya wonder sometimes.
To prove what I'm talking about, look up the stories of Rumi, or Gilgamesh.

Yes, the bible was written by men. Most of which were faithful followers of Christ. Don't you think He was just a little busy sharing the gospel? Anyhow, personally I can't read Aramaic and no language can be translated exact word for word. The way I see it though, is as long as I can get as close as possible to the word of God then I'll be alright. At least it brought me to faith in God and acceptance and love for Jesus. You know, there were many more men who wrote "books" about Jesus' teachings but men picked which ones were to be put in the bible. That's why some people think they can discredit Jesus like in the DaVinci Code...that is so sad.

Absolutely. The Bible is precisely that. But this group of men were Apostles of God. Very special men who wrote these things down with the sanctification of God Almighty. Even the Jews admit that Jesus was God's Son, they just don't think He was the Messiah. Moses was not only a leader of the Israelites by their own history but also by the history of the Egyptians. None of the writings of the Bible are just a bunch of stories by a few good men but it was written history and recorded by more than a few. God placed in the hearts of the Apostles to write down what he wanted us to know and here 6000 years later it still is applicable. That alone is amazing.

If it was written by angels would u understand it or even read it? The fact that it was written by 40 different authors over a period of over 1500 years, full of prophecies and principles that still apply to our day, and yet carries the same theme and purpose only gives credit to it being divinely inspired.
For a book that was viciously opposed, kept in a dead language (latin) for hundreds of years, and interpreted so differently by the masses, and yet is still the most popular book ever printed and now in almost every language known to man shows that it has a purpose.
No other book describes man's history, his downfall, redemption, and hope for the future like the Bible does.

The bible was written by 40 different men over a period of about 1600 years from 3 different continents and in 3 different languages. What's most incredible is that all of these men agree on all controversial subjects. That's just the tip of the ice berg. The bible is an incredible book.

The Bible records that God Himself wrote the Ten Commandments on stone. Then Moses got mad at the Hebrews and threw the stones at them!
Even if God Himself did write the Bible, how could we prove He did it? Thousands of years later, how could we prove it was Him? The apostle Paul opened his letters by introducing himself, but atheists argue over whether or not he really did.
And in response to some of the other posts on here, there is no evidence that either Ruth or Esther wrote their own stories. More likely than not, they were recorded by someone else, most likely a man.

Yes it definitely is (oh and some women). But if I handed you a book and said 'no man has touched this book all words in here were written directly by God'. What would you think then? Would you think this is possible? I think its written by men so we can truly work out who worte it and where it came from. Perhaps we should think of the bible as the written by men with complete inspiration from God.

No you have not made me mad. Its a good question. The BIBLE is GOD breathed. Every word in it was given by GOD to one of HIS trusted people to write down as a love letter to all of humanity. As for the other " books " that some say were cut out or left out, these were NEVER part of GOD'S WORD. They were just history books,of a sort, just as today we have many very good books written about and to explain parts or all of the BIBLE, but they are not part of the BIBLE. Be careful in alining yourself to the devil in any way, the BIBLE says that the power of life and death are in the tounge. Shalom
