Soldiers go to wars, something God doesn't like very much, one of the Ten Commandments says "Thou Shalt Not Kill". Well Soldiers go to wars and kill, even though is for their own defense, they are still killing people no matter how evil the other people are. It is said that nobody has a right to kill anybody because God made us all and only he can do that, he made us, he gets rid of us, only he chooses, not us. So what do you guys think, do our Soldiers go to hell??

I'm gonna be a Soldier pretty soon, i just wanna get your opinion on this because my sister-in-law says i will go to HELL! :(

First of all, thank you for serving our country!

Secondly, it would be best for you and your sister-in-law to study what the Bible teaches rather than forming opinions based on one line taken out without considering other verses and context. I believe the context of the commandment is innocent blood -- that is murder. No thinking person equates murder with people dying because of war (although there are several simple people and people with a political agenda that would disagree).

King David was often quoted as a man after God's own heart. While he was the head of the Jewish armies under King Saul, he was directly responsible for the killing of many of Israel's enemies. However, because of the blood on his hands, God did not allow David to build the temple. Instead his son Solomon built it. I fully expect to be with David in Heaven.

In defense of our great nation, many enemies have had to die. Had they not been killed, we would have had even more terrorist attacks like the one on 9/11.

Thanks again and God bless America!

No, being a soldier does not mean that you are going to go to hell. You should ask your sister-in-law why she does not believe Christs total sufficiency in all things. Then she should seriously pick up the old testament and see just how many times God went before Israel to defeat other nations.
No matter your sin if you are saved you are forgiven. That includes all sin not just what your sister-in-law chooses.

Personally, I do think that killing is not the right thing to do. When will this stop? When will we live in a time where there will be no war but peace throughout? Stop the killing!!!

Think of those innocent chidren and helpless women who are living everyday of their life fearing when they will die. They are just waiting for the moment to come, they have to live everyday in fear.

Put yourself in their shoes and think if those are your own family members, would you go kill?

First of all, Just because the ten commandments/Bible and your sister-in-law says it does not mean it is going to happen...secondly, it is your job! Hopefully, you will not be killing people because you ENJOY it, but because you have to! Regardless of whether or not you support the war, want to kill, etc...that is your job as a member of the American troops! Best of luck to you, and just do what you think is right!!!!

God doesn't like wars? Seriously? He sure did start a lot of them for someone who doesn't like them. I don't believe in hell at all. But I think if there was a god, he would look at the motive of a 'murder' just like good justice systems do. Just don't go over there and shoot innocent women in children. But a threat of hell shouldn't be your motivation to try not to kill people, trying to be a good person should do it.

God doesn't condome killing in times of war. In fact there are examples of god helping the israelites killing people. Moses and the staff, Joshua and the trumpets.

No, and the church doesn't teach that. They are not committing a moral sin because they are not choosing to kill someone for the sake of killing someone. There (key word here) intent is to help. Anyways, as humans we should not be ones to judge.

True followers of Christ will learn war no more but hell is a man-made doctrine. Those who are disobedient to the word--DIE. Those who are obedient--LIVE. Those are the only two choices. Some die temporarily and are resurrected. Some are judged and stay dead. The lake of fire is the 2nd death.

No, I do not believe U.S. soldiers will go to a mythological "hell".

Your hell will be surviving any wars you might be involved in.

I commend your decision to enlist no matter what your religion.
