I posted a thoughtful comment in the question about why Christians say Catholics are not Christians. Can you tell me where I am wrong?
BTW: I DID NOT say Catholics are not Christians, so don't go there. Read my post before commenting.

I posted in response to this:
Why the *&^% do certain non-Catholics STILL believe that Catholics are not Christians?

EDIT:
To the guy with no name who responded. Thank you, I said very plainly that Catholics are Christians. I said the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH and it's leaders and doctrines are not Christian.
Let's drop that already.
To your points:
1 NO, the bible says, "YOU shall have NO graven images before me" it's not a warning about believing in the power of statues. That is NOT stated inthe ten commandments. I agree that is the underlying evil, BUT it says DONT HAVE ANY. You are watering down what it syas when you permit them.
2 I dont believe anyone but Christ is raised from the dead yet, so I'll leave that be. I believe you are praying to dead people, but I will accede your argument there.
3 I've covered that, both in this post and the other one. I agree with you, never disagreed.

4 1 Timothy 4
1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
Abhorrent? It says plainly that forbidding to marry is a "doctrine of demons", so is abstaining from meats. You are putting your head in the sand if you say I got this one wrong.
5 The Pope is a seargent? You got to be kidding. His interpretation of the bible is paramount to anything else in your church. That's not a seargent. C'mon, that was weak.

6 First of all, 2% is not insignificant. Especially when they are PRIESTS. Men of God are held to a MUCH higher standard,
and should be. Stop pandering, there is no defense for this. Shame on you.
Your next lines:
"And the inquisition? The crusades? Please. The RCC is nearly 2000 years old! Of COURSE they will have things they are not necessarily proud of doing. At the time, they seemed just. Maybe they still are. Not up to me to decide. I'm sure God dealt out punishments and praises exactly as deserved."
NOT... PROUD...OF??? Seemed just?
Killing and torturing people to make them confess Jesus? That is plain evil. That one, brother, is the worst of all things the church could do. It is the black mark of all black marks on Christendom. Shame on you again for even thinking about rationalizing them.

Last but not least, you're gonna GLANCE over the fact that I said Catholics are Christians? I believe it was the underlying premise of everything I said.
I challenge you to find the words "pope", "priest", "nun", "transubstantiation" or anything else in the rituals of the RC that are written by Paul or Peter.
You neglected to cover "call no man father". Jesus said that, am I to disregard what Jesus said?
God bless you, I look forward to spending eternity with you in paradise.

I've read your response to the previous question which I also answered.
My official position is this:
The Roman Catholic Church (RCC) and most (not all) of its followers are Christians by name only.
The RCC is responsible for the most atrocious/barbaric acts in history (The Crusades, the Inquisitions and the subjugation of many countries by the cross and the sword). The Y!A participant with a German Shepherd avatar knows what I'm talking about (i.e. - Philippine history).
The RCC turns a blind eye to the crimes committed by its priests (pedophilia and homosexuality which are current and undeniable events).
Finally, from personal experience, my RC grandparents were murdered by their own RC sons and daughters. They were never arrested and charges were never filed because they were influential members of the RCC and they were the biggest financial contributors and they basically owned the town I lived in.

I do not know where you posted this, so I cannot comment. However:
Catholics are Christians. This is simple.
To be a Christian:
1) Love God.
2) Belive that God sent His only Son into the World to die for our sins, that we may be forgiven to God and live life to the full.
3) Believe that Christ rose from the dead, and now sits at the right hand of the Father.
Catholics believe all of these. Thus, they are Christians. Besides...up until 1500 AD or so, all Christians were Catholics. So there!
Edit:
I just read your post...and you are wrong, if only for the reasons above. Let me go further into detail:
1) The bible says over and over and over "you shall have no graven images before me". Yet that church has idols EVERYWHERE.
** The bible warns of the danger of having people believe in the power of statues. They worship statues, believing there is power in them. MANY churches have statues, crosses, candles, and other reminders of why the people are there. These are just that...reminders. No power in them, just a memory aid. A crucifix, showing Christ on the Cross, shows us just what Jesus went through to die for MY sins and yours...lest we forget.
2) The bible says to pray to God, that church says pray to saints.
** Let us say that Billy down the street prays to God for you. Is that good? I'll assume you say "yes." Now let us say that you ask Billy to pray to God for you. Is that good, too? I'll assume another "yes." That is all that is happening, except instead of Billy, I'm asking Francis, who used to live in Assisi, Italy. Francis, who is a Saint, prays to God for me. He interceeds for me. I pray to a Saint to pray for me, so that WHEN I pray to God for something, I have others that are close to God praying for me, too.
3) You said, "if you confess Jesus as Lord, and believe God raised him from the dead, you are a christian" (romans 10:9). Catholics do this. Therefore....they are Christians!
4) Your translation of 1 Tim 4:1-3 is abhorrent, and you know it.
5) You said that church teaches the Pope is the head of the body of believers - the bible says Jesus is the head of the church.
** The Pope is the SERVANT of all of the believers. One of his titles is the "Servant of the Servants of God." Remember when Christ washed the feet of the Apostles? The Pope must humble himself to do the same for each of us.
Plus, think about this: A sergeant is the leader of a squad. What is the general? The leader of......the sergeant, and every member of the squad! Just because the squad has a leader there, does not mean the general loses power in any way.
Thus is it with the Pope and God. God is the General. We allow follow Him. The Pope is His sergeant.
6) You asked: how can you support a church that allowed, even covered up the pedophile priest scandal? How can you support a church that sanctioned the crusades and the Inquisition? I like Catholics, and I think most of them ARE Christians, it's their church leadership and doctrine that I have a problem with.
** Well, we'll glance over the fact that you admitted that Catholics are Christians (at least, most of them). I am a Catholic, and I hate that some leaders in my church harmed children. I hate that others covered up for it. The ones that harmed children should be beaten within an inch of their lives, repeatedly. Those that covered them up should receive the same. However, understand that those people constitute LESS THAN 2% of the priesthood of the Catholic Church. Less than 2% is not statistically significant by most standards. Oh, and what is the occurance rate of pedophilia in any social group? Amazingly, somewhere around 2%.
And the inquisition? The crusades? Please. The RCC is nearly 2000 years old! Of COURSE they will have things they are not necessarily proud of doing. At the time, they seemed just. Maybe they still are. Not up to me to decide. I'm sure God dealt out punishments and praises exactly as deserved.
Oh, and for your information, the early Church was Christ, then Peter and the apostles. The Catholic faith was began by Christ, through Peter and the apostles. To try to separate the "early Chruch" from the "Roman Catholic Church" is ludicrous.

They're some of the oldest frame of Christians on the earth, having been shaped within the 4th century beneath the auspices of Constantine who determined that Christianity might be the authentic faith of the Roman Empire. It tried to unify all the disparate ideals and practices of Christians; or even within the New Testament it is obvious that the Church (or the Way) already had various factions and ideals. The Universal, or Catholic, Church did not achieve uniting all Christians in what grew to be orthodox ideals. There had been nonetheless folks that would not quit their possess suggestions, and had been labelled Heretics via the Catholic Church. But it grew to be the biggest frame of Christians; and it nonetheless is, even after the Great Schism while the Eastern Orthodox Churches broke away, and while the Protestants and others separated. Now, there are such a lot of exclusive forms of Christians, each and every emphasising exclusive constituents of scripture in order that many look contradictory to one another and mainly do not forget the ones of different sects, denominations and cults as "now not real Christians". Of the greater than two billion nominal Christians on the earth, over one billion of them are Catholic - so they are the mainstream Christians in a method of speakme.

You are confusing denominationism with Christianity. Christianity is a much bigger tent than your private denomination. None of your complaints had anything to do with the basic tenants of Christianity. They are all side issues. Fortunately, God is not nearly as small minded as some.
