I plan to bake soft decorated sugar cookies and brownies and put them in gift boxes to give away as Christmas gifts. What's the best way to do this so that they maintain their flavor and freshness?
Would ziploc bags work?

Also, if my cookie frosting/icing contains milk, can it be kept at room temperature without spoiling (the icing will be on the cookies) ?

This is what I do:
wrap each cookie in saran wrap ad then put in ziplock bags.

The icing should be fine for a couple of days, but if it's going to be anylonger than that, I wuld use meringue powder or another substitute in your icing.

The best way to store them is IN MY BELLY!! (a little cookie monster humor)
Actually, if you get Ziploc freezer bags, they should freeze nicely and then set them out about 6-8 hours before you give them as gifts.

I have just discovered some iced cookies that have been in my cupboard for about 6 months - and they are still good - They were in a Tupperware Brand container.
