LOL, When you find out how to do that, please let me know. I've resigned myself to keeping some old towels on the lower shelves and putting the good stuff up top.

In the closets in my house i take a real scented oil-- like from a perfume shop-- real lavender oil, rose oil, or sandalwood oil. I take the oil and rub it into the wood on the inside of the door frame and along the baseboards. It gives you a long lasting delicious scent that does not require any space and is equally distributed through the air. Use a lot or a little, but be careful to put it along the edges that don't rub up against anything- it may get on your clothes or towels. I also do this in the bathroom- it just smells good. :)

put a lock to the closet or otherwise secure it and make it "cat-proof." Once a cat learnes how to open an unlocked door, the only thing that will stop them is to actually lock the door!

My cat does the same thing to our bathroom closet. It is two doors that open and they have handles that you grab to fold them out. We put a rubber band around the two handles and it holds it shut to keep him out. Cats are such clever critters! Another suggestion if this a folding door is a door stopper stuck under it in the middle so he can't pull it open. Hope this helps!

Your cat is feeling safe and warm in the closet he goes to it not because she/he is min. Try to put carton box next to your closet. Cut a hole in it and fill it in with paper (ts getting warm quick)
and unfortunately one of your towels, it will give your cat 'safe ' scent. Your cat will feel safe and comfortable at place that is only hers/his if its not working let me know we'll think about something better

You have to show him who's boss. You should sleep in the linen closet so that there's no room for the cat. And when he tries to get in, make a huge fit and hiss at him and swat at him with your "paws."

Put a simple hook and eye latch on the outside of the door, or a brick doorstop on the floor in front of the closet.

my cat did the same thing, and even after i washed my clothes he would jump in the hamper, while i would be putting stuff away,i think they like the smell of laundry.so here's what i did,and it worked.
get a box for him to sleep in and sacrifice a towel for him,and put it in the box,and just wash it with the other towels going in the wash just be sure to give that one back or he'll know.
