OMG Thats sooooo sweet. If you came to my house and asked for my daughters hand, I would be so honored. I would know beyond a showdow of a doubt, that you respected me, and my daughter. This ritiual is rarely performed today. I would be blown away, and with all my love give you my blessing. I think this is a fantastic idea. You are sure to get brownie points. Good Luck and Best Wishes (however you are not gonna need them, you sound like such a gentlmen!)

Yes, or at least let them know what you intend. They love her just as much as you do, and have just as much of an emotional stake in the matter. Besides, you're right, they will be like your parents when you get married, and it's better to start things off on the right foot.

Before I proposed to my now wife, I sat down with her father. I showed up with 2 good cigars and a bottle of Crown and I asked him for his blessing. 10 years later he still brags about that to his buddies. It shows respect and to many fathers is a very big deal.

I would recommend it. If the situation allows, I plan to do the same thing eventually. It'll show her parents that you really respect them, as well as her, by attempting to have a real relationship with them and giving them the honor that they deserve.

Yeah man, maybe you should watch Meet the Parents.
It's a sweet old fashioned move that shows a girl that you really care about her enough to ask her parents, and if they don't think that you are worthy enough for their daughter, I would say prove it to them. Spend time with them and let them get to know you.

I don't think enough people do that, so yea, it would be nice and considerate of you to get their blessings before hand...just make sure that they don't break the news to her before you do. Good luck!
