A Soft Boiled Egg. 3-4 mins is soft. in the centre.
Really good for breakfast dipping sliced fingers of toast into.

Wait until the water is ALREADY boiling, then place the egg in and leave it for 4 minutes. But usually I hear about 3 minute eggs, not 4 minute eggs. Oh well. Happy egg eating.

The real meaning is a three minute egg. You would have an egg timer that would run for three minutes. You'd put the egg in boiling water. Three minutes later when the all the dust on the gg timer was on the other side the egg would be done. This was used before timers on microwaves, I still have mine though.

an egg should be boiled to 4 minutes (at least) a 3 minute egg is like a game of russian roulette, is it cooked, is it raw???

An egg that has been boiled for 4 minutes its also called soft boiled so the yolk inside is soft and and runny and not hard boiled.
