I am not sure where you are now but BKK is not as user friendly as some places in the west. Many American cities are poor at that and Bkk is a little like NYC in that its dense but the curbs don't have and little ramp dips for you to get off the high curb well. On some side sois(streets) you will be off the sidewalk and in the street as vendors take all the space. If I were with you, as I travel to Bkk often we could manage. There are certain train stations with escalators and some with elevators. The Thais would be very helpful to us and it would behoove us to hire a cab for the day for consistency. If you have a good travel partner you will be ok. But just 1. The cabs in Thailand have a tank for natural gas in the trunk which won't give you as much room for the chair. If it is not a compact chair that folds easy that leaves half the back seat. A rolling chair would be better.
You will encounter some difficulties but when you see the amazing things to see in Thailand it will all be worth it. Especially if you have a partner or can hire out a hand for the day. Even alone I dont know the extent of your disability but you have more to gain than lose. The airlines will be great to you and seeing the beaches or country side are worth it alone besides BKK.
Go for it if you can! Don't limit youself! Best of Luck.

I am sorry to say that Bangkok is not wheelchair friendly at all - the streets are very difficult to walk on, the public transports have no entry for wheelchairs or restaunrants for that matter. Bangkok has a lot to learn but I am afraid that it will take a long long time.

You can go to any of the main attractions and shopping malls. Bangkok is very accommodating for people using wheelchairs. You will have a good time.
