Many people have suggested to stay out of the sun to avoid getting tanned. Well, I did just that. I wear long sleeve clothes, long pants, and avoid going out unless is necessary. While my face, arms, and legs are noticeably whiter, the area from my hip to the upper part of my thigh (which remains covered 98% of the time) is darker. What's up with that?? Yes, I used to be fairly white back then but went to the beach...and you know what happened. Is there a way to even this uneven skin tone?

Sweetie, uneven skin tone is more noticable on someindividuals than others. Areas of skin such as the arms, legs, face and chest are obviously lighter than the rest lots of people's bodies. This is normal. Usually, my face, arms, legs and chest are lighter in the winter-time from LACK of sun exposure. It's also more noticable on me because I'm light-skinned.

Your skin pigment (melonin) in these areas you mentioned earlier vary to a certain degree, as well. I suggest you expose your lighter areas to some sun. A few minutes in the sun can dramatically even-out your skin tone.

You can also try a skin-evening product like Jergens Natural Glow, which is safe to use and isn't cancerous like skin lighteners/bleaches/faders. This works. I've tried it.

Now how exactly do you want to even your uneven skin tone? If you do have skin discoloration (meaning, uneven scarred or blemished skin), applying 100% cocoa or shea butter to these areas and getting around 15 minutes of sun exposure every other day on a regular basis will gradually fade those uneven areas. To even out your skin complexion, the best thing to do is get a little healthy sun exposure. Sunscreen is also necessary to block harmful UV rays.

Proper sun exposure stimulates the production of endorphins (through the production of Vitamin D) in your skin, which leads to a healthy, natural glow.

Follow this regimen and you'll be on your way to even-toned skin.

There are so many products on the market for bleaching/evining out skin tone but a lot depends on hereditary issues as well as the cause. Almost all cosmedic docs/dematologists will give you a free consultation. I can tell you that that I know of three things that are supposted to help (simple to more expensive) - Hydroquinone creams (at least 10%), cosmelan (a high end product for uneven skin tones), then you have good 'ol IPL (laser) which is supposed to rid discoloration. I don't know what is best for you but I would go for a free consult.

Everyone has uneven tone to some degree. Check out a local day spa and have a professional salt scrub (body exfoliation) request a steam bath first and then a hydro wrap after...so luxurious. I pay $45ea salt and wrap,,,then the steam is usually complimentary.

the best way to get even colors is by going back to the beach but you wont get whiter going to the beach. i have the exact same problem and i haven't worn a bathing suit to the beach in about10 years and i still have a tan left from my last visit.
