I got a precription of tylenol # 3 yesterday and I took two like a usually do(I have fibromyalgia and have been on a morphine patch and tylenol # 3 for the past year). About 40 minutes after taking the T3's I started feeling really dizzy and sick to my stomach. I also felt really euphoric like I wasn't in my body. The best way to describe how horrible I felt is like I drank about a 40oz of tequilia and a 40oz of jamican rum all in one big gulp. I thought maybe I was getting a bug so I took two more today and felt exactly the same and it also made my urine very dark. Is it possible to get a bad batch????

HELP PLEASE

I am also on Duragesic 50(fentanyl transdermal system) and mobic for the fibromyalgia. I have been on the Tylenol 3, fentanyl, mobic combo for about a year now. I just don't understand why now it would react like this with me. It doesn't make any sense.

It's possible. It's more likely that they gave you the wrong thing by mistake.
You might have something like tylenol #4, which has twice as much codeine and could cause the symptoms you describe. Give your pharmacist a call.

Double check with the pharmacy and see if they have changed their brand on you. The pharmacy can contact the manufacturer and have them check the lot if they still have the original bottle it came from. Tylenol#3 is usually a fast mover (meaning pharmacies go through a bottle rather quickly) so that may not be entirely possible.

Generic medications are therapeutically equivalent but different manufacturers can use different excipients (which are the non pharmaceutically active components of the tablets, (colors, preservatives etc.) They are supposed to be bioequivalent with the brand name by -20%/+25% (most generics are within a 1.9%). So it is possible that the tablet you are given can be minutely stronger - hence the slightly higher codeine aspect may cause a little more side effects. The main side effects of codeine are upset stomach, drowsiness and dizziness.

Generally I have my patients try another brand and if all else fails try the brand name or change the medication altogether.

I've not had it happen to me but I have heard stories of people given the wrong prescription medication. I'd double check it for sure.
