Did your dad have any hobbies or interests? Did you do anything memorable with him? Did he like sports? Or did he listen to any particular kind of music? The best tattoo to get to remember someone is an image that reminds you of that person. For example, if your dad played the banjo then get a tattoo of a banjo. That way you are actually getting a tattoo as a memorial to their life. A lot of the most typical memorial tattoos that you see tend to just mark out that someone is dead rather than make any actual comment about the person's life and passions.

Dont get Ying and Yang if you want to symbolise soulmates, Ying and Yang symbolise the balance of good and evil.
I would suggest a the chinese symbol for soulmates.

why not just a plain heart---or one could have the word (yes i know...no words) "forever" the other could have to word "faithfully" after the song by journey---forever yours faithfully. or like one with two "x" and the other with two "o" or like one person could have a swan facing towards the right and the other person one facing towards the left so the two heads when they are together forms a heart...
