There are a lot of people who are lactose intolerant and thus have to stay away from dairy. If you are looking for calcium substitutes, try fortified orange juice or fortified cereal, or beans,such as soy beans or navy beans, or spinach or other greens, or salmon or almonds. If you are looking for something which tastes like milk (although if you hate milk so much I don't know why you would want that!), soy milk sounds like an alternative, and it also is high in calcium.

Plenty. I use Oatly (oat milk), but there are also rice, almond, hazelnut and hemp milks (amongst others). The last one tastes and looks most like cow milk, but it has a nasty gritty mouthfeel and if used in tea or coffee leaves a horrible gritty sludge in the cup. There is also a coconut derived milk (not the same as coconut milk straight from fresh coconuts). I tend to try out others when I see them, but so far have found oat milk to be the best all-rounder; it also tastes better than real milk on cereals, IMHO, and as it contains soluble oat fibre it has a proven effect of reducing blood cholesterol levels and has a higher GI value, so staves off hunger for longer.

soy milk, but if you hate the taste of milk then don't try it..
i would drink orange juice with added calcium and vitamin d to replace milk. you will get just the same nutrients as if you were drinking milk. i know, just the thought of milk kinda makes me cringe. when i was a kid i refused any milk at all, i kept thinking it was cow pee. i still kinda wonder what ever it was to cause man to suck the juice out or a cow udder and bring it to the dinner table - and get the rest of the world to follow! Just think about that, kinda odd, huh? I agree with ya.....

For cereal, try Rice Milk, or Almond Milk, and avoid artificially flavoured beverages, especially drinks such as chocolate soy milk. Soy, as it is over-processed and over-refined in North America, is linked to causing such conditions as breast and prostate cancer (men do get breast cancer too) and hormonal irregularities.

If you're thirsty, drink *water*, preferably not from the tap or from a plastic bottle (the plastic compromises the purity of the water). Add fresh lemon to alkalize your water, and skip the ice; it "freezes" the esophagus and chills the digestive tract, thus limiting your body's abilities to digest properly.

And here is a brief caution about Soy (source: "Total Health" article, Five "Health Foods" to Avoid by Dr. Joseph Mercola with Rachael Droege:)

"In recent years soy has emerged as a "near perfect" food, with supporters claiming it can provide an ideal source of protein, lower cholesterol, protect against cancer and heart disease, reduce menopause symptoms, and prevent osteoporosis, among other things.

Increase the risk of breast cancer in women, brain damage in both men and women, and abnormalities in infants Contribute to thyroid disorders, especially in women Promote kidney stones Weaken the immune system Cause severe, potentially food allergies

Agree with many, soy bean. If u hate dairy products, i recommend plain mineral water.

I'm not sure if this will help or not...but it's worth a try. My husband also doesn't like milk so he drinks chocolate soy milk instead (his favorite brand is Silk).

You don't need a specific substitute. A balanced, varied diet without dairy products will still give you everything you need.

Go for yoghurt and soya milk which should give you the same nutrition value. You can also have milk in other forms, like in chocolate and full-cream milk or powdered milk.

Calcium suppliments. Even some orange juice is fortified with as much calcium as milk.
